A graduate of Berklee College of Music and one of the most promising singer-songwriters from Kuala Lumpur to emerge in recent months, Ali Aiman's OVERTURE EP makes me want to cry - because it's so good. The six-track album opens with 'Breathe' (embedded above), possibly my favourite track (it's a toss-up between that, and 'Every Little Thing'). The entire EP is haunting, melancholic, and slow - I try, but I can't explain how I feel when I listen to it. There's polish, and there's quality, fo'sho, but there's also a certain, I don't know, raw indie eagerness / honesty.
Well, anyway, I have to go drown in Ali Aiman now.
(to be continued).
