Blizzard showed us a few of the numbers they’ve been tracking during the Open Beta at the beginning of May and some of these I simply can’t wrap my head around.
I mean, 87 MILLION loot boxes?! Wow. But how many had Epic and Legendary skins, Blizzard? Tell us THAT!
“Attacking a largely stationary turret using long-range specialists who do high damage or a guy who can deflect his shots back? Naah, Imma just blunder into his line of fire as Winston five more times.”
Also, to those of us who have been keeping track of this game for a while now- this is pretty funny to see. Blizzard extensively re-worked Bastion to make him less of a Noob-stomper a while back. Didn’t turn out that well eh?
Whoa Nelly, this one’s a doozy. Overwatch just finished it’s open beta and I’m itchin’ to play some more. It is that good. I haven’t played such an addicting game since my Team Fortress days. Blood, fun, and teamwork.
On that note, I thought I’d give everyone a few pointers and what could improve your overall team performance. Remember, this is a TEAM base shooter. A team that works together, wins together.
Overwatch Experience:
Played the Overwatch Closed Beta (2-3 hours)
Played the Overwatch Open Beta (6-7 hours)
Played on both PC and PS4.
Tons and tons of hours playing team fortress.
1.It’s not about your eliminations.
Note that Overwatch doesn’t even have a death match mode. If you go into Overwatch wanting to accomplish kill streaks and build up an awesome KDR, you’re doing it wrong. The only obstacles in your way is the enemy team, and the only way to move said obstacle is to kill, but a great player will be able to know when to kill, when to stand your ground, and when to simply “push”.
2.If you have a mic, you’re not a loser, you’re a leader.
Have a mic? Be the voice of reason! Guide your band of mime misfits into the fray! If you can call it, say it. Is there a campy Bastion in a corner? Or maybe a hidden Widowmaker? The fact that a mic player can call out an obstacle cuts out the trial and error. No longer do your teammates need to touch the stove twice to feel the burn.
ON A SIDE NOTE: Mic composure. People don’t follow blind leaders. Don’t be a douche online, be respectful but resilient. Applaud people for their efforts, even after a loss. Who knows, they may want to play with you again!
3.Pay attention to your surroundings.
Whether you are capturing a point or escorting a payload, there will always be multiple routes available to your opponent. Make note of what entrance or passageway your teammates are covering and give them some room while still keeping an eye on them.
4.Be versatile.
Stop choosing Widowmaker, gosh dang it. Don’t be the one team member who can’t adapt to a situation. If you’re proving yourself with your favorite character but your team is still losing the race than maybe you can lend your awesomeness to a role that may better your odds in battle. Rotating heroes not only let’s you figure out alternate solutions to problems but keeps your enemy team guessing what may be around the next corner.
YES this means choosing support. Deal with it.
5.Beware the Conga Line of Death!
Almost every other match I play I find this scenario. It is the situation where the enemy team is in control of a single point and your team keeps getting knocked off, one at a time, and on the respawn back, the team heads into the control point...in single file, each getting picked off once again...one by one.
There is one solution to this. Wait.
All you have to do is be patient, assess the situation, and wait for your team to recuperate. While it is possible, it is better to not 1V5 the enemy team, no matter how desirable that Play of the Game highlight is.
Well those are all the mediocre tips I have to offer as of now, I can’t wait to purchase the full release of the game. Who knows, maybe we can play together! The world could always use more heroes!
Reblog or like this if you post tons of overwatch stuff, I’ve suddenly found myself in the fandom and i need blogs to follow. Art/memes/gameplay/fics are all great.
