New in Town || ((Open RP!))

“Finally....here....whew!” Silvia breathed a sigh of relief as she tugged her battered brown suitcase up the first few steps to the Sunshine Apartment Complex. As far as the cat-girl knew, this would be her new home here in Orchid Valley. She had heard of the town before; a quaint village close to a few bustling cities, but far enough that it felt cut-off and relaxed.

“Rgrgh...grrh!” The girl groaned as she pulled her case inside, and forced it to the nearest counter.

“Phew....hoo...huh...” She took a moment to breathe before the counter, as the later behind the counter watched curiously.

“Might I help you?”

“Yup!” Silvia cheered, hopping up, “I’m...um, Silvia Kuroi? I think I have a room, or something...uhh..”

“Let’s see...ah, yes, you’re in 1C, with two roommates.”

“Room..mates..?” Silvia asked, cocking her head as he ears twitched, “N-no! Th-that can’t be right! I got a solo room...!”

The lady shook her head, “Sorry. It says here that you’re in the triple. You’ve already paid, and we can’t refund you until the lease is up.”

Silvia blew some air from her lips as she rubbed her forehead, “Alright...I’ll guess...I’ll deal with it...”

“Perfect. Here is your key.” The lady said, handing Silvia a tiny silver key that had a small tag with big bold letters: ROOM 1C. Silvia took the key, thanked the receptionist, and resumed her tugging as she lugged her bag to the apartment.

“Thank god...it’s on the first floor...!” She groaned as she finally arrived--the third room, first floor. A triple, apparently.

“Whelp...” Silvia whispered as her dark tail swished, “Let’s get started then...”

{Lonely Aspirations} Claire & Open

Claire stared at the bottles of medicine lining the back wall of the Clover Clinic that she had dusted and organized moments ago. She often found herself nervously cleaning the clinic when she had no other work to be doing. She didn’t want to seem useless.

With a sigh, she placed the final bottle on the shelf and glanced around. Her long, golden hair fell draped over her shoulders as she bent down to pick up the empty boxes whose contents were now carefully displayed.

Claire told herself to relax. She wasn’t where she used to be anymore.

Previously, she had been a farmer in a town many, many miles away. She had found an advertisement for a beautifully manicured ranch with a fully finished house and, naturally, she jumped on the deal. She dropped everything and left for her new life only to find out the farm was a disaster. The house was old, the fields were full of rocks and dead trees, and the mayor had scammed her into taking it over, but… she did want to be a farmer after all.

So... She took it.

She worked on the ranch for several seasons. She cleared and fertilized the field, raised animals, and even restored the house. She told herself everything was going exactly as planned… but…

That wasn’t the case.

She found herself making frequent visits to the local clinic. At first, it was out of simple curiosity. She had always wanted to become a doctor of some kind, and she was even taking night classes to support her dream. But soon she was visiting for other reasons. Her health was rapidly declining. She found herself constantly tired and often running a fever. A few seasons later, she finished her schoolwork and gained the qualifications to become a nurse.

She packed up and left the farm. She needed fresh air and, more importantly, a fresh start. Her farming career, which she saw as being less-than-successful, left her with nothing but a damaged self-esteem.

 Now Claire is working as a nurse at the clinic in Orchid Valley. She felt very fortunate to have been so accepted by the few she had already met in the town, and she hoped this would be a new beginning for her.

Claire gasped silently as she noticed the clinic door open. Quickly, she placed the boxes in the back room and shook the thoughts out of her head. She approached the door, smiling gently. She was always happy when given a chance to assist someone coming into the clinic. She wasn’t the doctor, but she knew she could still help.

“Hello, welcome to Clover Clinic. How can I help you?”

Thock, thock, thwack! 

Thock, thock, thwack!

  Luke stood back and admired his work of art that he managed to get everywhere he could in Town Square. 

  Yes…it was perfect. Who wouldn’t be attracted to such an eye-catching advertisement. He gave a toothy grin. Yeah, yeah– sure, there was soda stains on all a few of them but he thought it gave it more charm! Spunk! His mind was buzzing with exhilaration at all the new events that were unfolding in his life currently. First, the new apartment. Then, breaking in the new shop later. Whatever happened next would have to try extremely hard to top all of that!

Dusting his hands off and removing the spare nails from his mouth into his pocket, Luke started to whistle as he found himself strolling out of his current location. 

Coming from the hustle and bustle of city life was almost like an ice bath when moving to Orchid Valley. It was sooooooooooo quiet in the small amount of time he had been here. Too quiet. Annoyingly quiet. He was desperate for some entertainment before he started working on his shop (which felt like MILES from where he was now). The grin he was wearing so proudly before turned into a limp smirk. Where the hell was everyone in this town..? He didn’t even see anyone when he was bringing in his stuff to the new apartment with his Pops yesterday. Maybe one or two that stayed out of his line of sight long enough for him to notice (and when he did it was too late) but…still. It was way too strange for his taste. He needed his communication!!!

His eyes started to be more alert to his surroundings. Maybe…just maybe…he’d be able to find someone if he payed more attention. Far off he could see some empty buildings here and there, maybe a handful of them that could actually be open? It was hard to tell.  

“Something’s gotta be open..! I can’t be the only one living here..”

Speaking too soon, he saw someone. Small little splotch in his peripheral vision but it most definitely was a person!! Immediately, he sprinted over to the unknown splotch,shouting out a jumbled up greeting as he did so. 

“HIMYNAMEISLUKEANDIT’SVERYNICETOMEETYOOOOO—”

Perhaps the low amount of human contact the past day or two made him a bit too excited and disoriented? Either way, he failed to notice the state of his untied shoelaces and tripped over his own two feet. He laid there, bewildered– arm still sticking upwards for the anticipation of a handshake. 

“–ouuuu…”

A New Day || Open

Dylas had spent all morning unpacking his meager amount of belongings. The apartment wasn’t much, just a simple studio with enough space to be comfortable, and the complex itself wasn’t all that impressive. Still, it was good enough for him, and already he felt at home.

When he was satisfied with the arrangement in his bedroom, he set off to go check out The Rose, his new place of employment. Dylas never showed it, but he was ecstatic to finally work as a chef. He’d completed his training with a rather strange (but very talented) chef, and Dylas had grown not only as cook, but as a person. This new job would help test him, and he would prove to himself whether he had the chops to open his own place one day. 

Finally, he made it to the restaurant, and his excitement manifested itself in the shaking of his hand as he unlocked the door. It was perfect. Well, the place needs a major dusting but it’s pretty damn nice. 

Dylas walked around, inspecting all the tables, chairs, and windows. When he got to the kitchen, he smiled to himself. This is it.
