yk I have a feeling that gotham is sentient in TDSB. Now I may very well be dead wrong and it could just be me picking up on the wrong things (insert joke that I don’t have the brain capacity to think of rn about spray painted horses that look like zebras LMAO)

Take this theory with a grain of salt because I am NOT matpat… but I do feel like it would explain the voice Tim heard when he was laser beamed through the chest.

It would also kinda explain the birds?  Im pretty sure Tim was the one who made the wish Duke is trying to fix. In CHAPTER ONE tims having a crisis pre death and where he wishes that his family was together, “Tim wished, in that moment, his family was still whole.” Tims family being together means him too, even if Tim doesn’t realize that. Maybe the birds are gothams way of giving the bats (specifically duke) hints that “HEY, this is wrong LOOK INTO THIS”

Now I could be wrong and the voice and birds could be a complete different thing, but I do think the voice and the birds are connected in some way.

Oh my god I LOVEEE sentient Gotham- such a fun dynamic. Overall very very fun theory and love to hear it!! As a treat I will say that you are correctly picking up on some vibes, at least for little pieces assosiated one way or another, but the awnser might not be as clear as you think. Or at least as identifiable as Gotham given life. :)
