After about 2 weeks of the waiting game, AF did not arrive. In fact, it skipped the month of February! And again, it was about 5 days late. At that point of time, I started to question if any of us has fertility issue. I began to google again and came across a few articles. How soon should women get help? Naturally, couples will conceive within one year. However, women who are 35 or older should try for 6 months before contacting the doctor if they have no health problem. I also came across a couple of shared experiences from online forums and there are couples who have been trying for 2 years or more. Mine seemed not a big deal anymore. So, I googled on ways to increase chances of conceiving. We decided to get for myself Ovulation Predictor Kit (OPK - another acronym that I learnt during this period) from Watsons since my AF became irregular. There are 5 sticks in the box for $20++. However, it can be tricky. There are instructions in the box but they may vary depending on which kit you use. In general, there is advisable timing to test (between 10am and 8pm) while the optimum time is to fall between 2pm and 230pm. It is very different from the Pregnancy Test as you don't test for ovulation as soon as you wake up. So.. the timing needs to be perfect in order to detect the LH surge and it is better to start testing earlier than the fertile window as you really you do not want to miss it (at the same time, also need to note the number of sticks you bought as you do not want to run out of it). So when the fertile window came, I had already started using the OPK. Thank goodness the last stick actually showed positive. So you know what happened for the next few days.. :) Don't give up, keep trying!
