Electile Dysfunction -- Act II Playhouse
Electile Dysfunction — Act II Playhouse
Smart is different from sharp. “Electile Dysfunction,” the satirical revue Tony Braithwaite concocted with Will Dennis and Tracie Higgins for Act II Playhouse, is not the most incisive in the sense of skewering all who dare to run for the Presidency in 2016 by revealing their foibles and idiocies. It doesn’t go into for commentary or even blatant partisanship. It does something better,…

O’Reilly Factor part 2
O’Reilly: We’re back with Phil Cole and his team. Phil, before the break we talked about you thoughts on next year’s Presidential race, but we didn’t get to the part where you offer your credentials as a political analyst. What are they?
PBC: Thank you, Mr. O’Reilly. In 1988 I predicted that Bush would...
O’Reilly: That’s the father George Herbert Walker Bush.
PBC: Yes! I predicted he would win 39 states to 11.
O’Reilly: And the real result was?
PBC: 40 to 10.
O’Reilly: I knew that, I just wanted to make sure you knew that.
PBC: And last March, before most primaries and without looking at those professionals, I picked 32 of 36 Senate races correctly.
O’Reilly: Which did you get wrong?
PBC: Mary Landrieu, Scott Brown, Colorado and one other close one.
O’Reilly: And you wrote that sketch about the Kentucky race.
PBC: I don’t know why anyone though that was in doubt, or Harry Reid either in 2012. These old men know how to win. Even Thad Cochran pulled it out.
O’Reilly: He sure did. Now you put yourself forward as an expert on Presidential history.
PBC: That’s right.
O’Reilly: But your character Phillip is the Boston intellectual.
Phillip: That’s general knowledge. I know an overview of almost everything worth knowing. Phil masters the few things he cares about.
O’Reilly: You also have no trouble transitioning among characters.
PBC: No trouble when they’re just subsets of my personality.
O’Reilly: Yet your character Ford is an expert on Supreme Court Justices.
Ford: As a judge I should have knowledge about the body on which I hope to someday serve.
O’Reilly: Big aspirations. You’d be the first comedian on the Supreme Court.
Ford: Officially yes, but many of them were noted for their humor and some were rightfully laughed at.
O’Reilly: Indeed! Well, we’re putting you knowledge to the test Ford. Who was the 37th Supreme Court Justice?
Ford: Well, let’s see. Washington appointed 12, Adams 3 for 15, 18, 20, 21, 22, Jackson had 6. That’s 28, Van Buren 2, 31, 33, Benjamin Curtis was 34th. That would be Lincoln’s first appointee. Was it...David Davis?
O’Reilly: It was indeed. That’s how you get there: counting. Who was number 74.
Ford: Oh, I see, 37, 74, 111 because number 111 is one of the current justices. Lincoln had 3 more for 40. Grant had...70, 70, 73, 74, He must have had 5 for 45. Hayes 2 makes 47. Stanley Matthews was 48. Arthur replaced Cliiford, the sick guy and...1 more. That’s 51. Then Cleveland 2 , Harrison 4, Cleveland 2 more That makes McKenna number 60. Then 63, 68, 71, So the third appointee of Harding: Mr. 1922 through 1938.
O’Reilly: Wht’s his name?
Ford: There are a few too many to memorize all names, so I remeber some by their years of service.
O’Reilly: The answer is Owen Roberts.
Ford: Oh, he’s justice 1930 to 1945, retired as soon as Roosevelt died. So Arthur only appointed 2. Also you must be counting Charles Evans Hughes only once.
O’Reilly: I don’t know where you went wrong.
Ford: That’s still 2 off. Grant must have only had 4. You don’t count the man who was approved, then died.
O’Reilly: Officially he does not count.
Ford: Then there’s the Rutledge controversy and the 3 who were elevated to Chief.
O’Reilly: Lots of problems. Anyways, you’ve been a great guest. Please come back to the Factor soon.
PBC: We’d love it.
O’Reilly: We’ll be back with Bernie Goldberg after this.
Blood Orange - Uncle ACE (Kindness remix feat Robert Owens) Blood Orange is dope. Kindness? Geweldig. Prettig weekend.
