For more detail on owlvids supporting eugenics: they've explicitly said that they support chemical sterilization and EUTHANASIA for certain mental illnesses, regardless of whether the person has actually hurt anyone. Everyone seems to have just quietly moved past that but it wasn't even a single tiny post that was easy to ignore, it was numerous posts, ask responses, and discussions with people spanning multiple days (if I remember correctly, it was brought up again later), making it clear that they support eugenics.

I have my own (very strong) opinions on TNR and exotic pets, but I would NEVER harass people or behave the way that owlvid does. The fact that they get so many passes and so much support solely for being a popular "animal" blogger (when was the last time they did any real animal content without harassing anyone?) really scares me.

Went ahead and IP blocked this (presumably from the same person?) anon. Any asks that Owl is receiving aren't from us and I would be willing to bet good money down that they also aren't from Poppy. (Though since this is the second ask I've gotten about this, here, I'll even tag Poppy to confirm: @hapalopus) If Owl is saying on their blog that all their asks are from us and Poppy, Owl is lying, again. I genuinely cannot emphasize that enough.

Owlvid deleted their blog. I guess baiting people isn't as fun as they thought it would be. Actions have consequences. Frankly, this was a long time coming. I can't say I'm upset at all by the news. If they do come back, I hope their next iteration isn't nearly as vicious and asshole-ish.

Did Owlvid actually successfully get doxxed? It was honestly my first thought too when I saw they deleted.

I don't think it was a full doxx, but someone found a picture and probably sent it to them or they saw it on a 4chan-esque message board. I don't know if it was them or not, but they deleted.

Good riddance to bad rubbish, IMO.

I am terribly sorry for what you've gone through. Is there anyone else you know owlvid to have harmed, online on in-person?

Mikayla Raines from Save a Fox, but that's it that I know of. I only loosely kept up with their drama because it did things to my blood pressure.

Owlvid has a thing where they pick someone doing something slightly wrong, which they turn into much larger of an issue than it is. I will never say that TRL was perfect (they weren't) or that Save a Fox did everything perfectly, but their issues were so minor in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure that the people behind those operations saw facts that internet commenters didn't. I'm sure their actions were the best they could do at that time with that they had at hand. Owlvid uses these situations for clout instead of trying to do anything constructive.

It's fucked up and it pisses me off.

For the record, I do not support the Soyjack users. I think they are a bunch of racist, transphobic assholes who are only going on this crusade for culture war reasons. They are not good people. They want a cudgel to use against Black and/or trans people. I'm not on their side. I don't support their actions, but I'm also not surprised it happened.

I also think it was really fucking stupid for Owlvid to dare the doxxing website to doxx them. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor, but Owlvid - who I think is addicted to internet clicks and attention - forgot that or didn't care. They are a drama blog and bloody fucking hell they got drama.

This entire situation is a train wreck that could have been avoided, but multiple choices were made along the way to ensure that it wasn't.
