Get to Know Your Mutuals (Owl's Edition)

I got tagged to do something like this by @dreamforrest and @chimneyschewinggum - there were a lot of different questions and my attention span can be a bit wonky, so I hope you'll forgive me that I played pick-and-chose ;)

1. Favourite Colour

Red or Blue, depending on context.

2. Last Series/Movie/Song/etc. Current Obsession

My brain mostly picks an obsession and then sticks with it for a little while before moving on, so the answer to all of these is Hazbin Hotel or something Hazbin Hotel related.

And of course Evan Buckley, Sal Deluca and Tommy Kinard. In any order or combination really.

3. Coffee or Tea

Both. They're both good. Though if I really had to decide, my caffeine addiction needs the coffee a little more.

4. What am I currently working on

Going through my backlog of fics and trying to pick them off one by one, right now that's "Damn, Your Eyes" (Bucktommy), and then we'll see which one tickles my fancy the most next.

... but the Captain!Sal verse and Buck as his probie is high on that list.

5. Origin of your username

If you squint you can see one of the first fandoms I was ever obsessed with in that name (and funnily enough it's one of the few I never quite wrote fanfiction for. Ironically, I also had a different username then.) Also: I tend to lurk from a distant perch, so that's fitting.

6. What oddly specific thing brings you joy

There is a story behind this, but just to keep it weird: public transport. specifically a line that runs close to my place.

Also, really anything that will give my brain the endorphins it craves. Fairylights are good, but so caramel syrup, so really who can know ahead of time?

7. What field do you work in?

I do marketing for an NGO, but looking to move over to the tech side of things. We'll see :)

WIP dump

ooooh i love this idea - thank you @letsdosciencetoit and @chimneyschewinggum for tagging me!

I've been wanting to get an overview, so this works in my favour!

So I got a few longer-ish thoughts:

Damn, Your Eyes (Bucktommy): Sugardaddy!Tommy is inviting Buck to dates all over the world. There’s a bit of a backstory there, but mostly it’s smutty lovely dates.

Stuck in the middle (Salbucktommy): After the Bucktommy breakup, Sal and Buck become friends; but Sal’s still Tommy’s best friend - there’s a line to walk here. One that Buck crosses when he kisses Sal, and Sal angrily tells him to go get the love of his life - Tommy - back; and I got so many notes on where it spirals from there.

Starved for Love (Saltommy + Buck): Season1!Buck meets a married Saltommy at the club. They invite him over after. Into their bed, and then into their relationship.

Captain’s Duty (Salbuck): Buck doesn’t go back to the 118 after his leg injury and instead ends up under Captain Deluca, whom he gets to know as Sal quickly. The tension between them is palatable - and even if Sal resists at first, he eventually caves.

Fight, Freeze, Flight (Bucktommy): Canon divergence with Doug kidnapping both Maddie and Buck. Thanks to her brother, Maddie gets away, but Buck doesn’t. Tommy and he just started dating - but Tommy’s all in with the recuse effort anyway.

Aaaaand then I have like 15 or so smaller plotbunnies, the most recent of which had me thing about a sentinel-guide-verse with sentinel!Buck. I’ve also started playing around with a one-shot series for the major arcana cards (just because it sounds like a fun series of prompts) - and got a few Saltommy, Bucktommy and Salbuck ideas for those… can you tell my muse is all over the place these days?

(And none of that is even talking about all the plotbunnies I've drafted beyond 9-1-1. It doesn't look like it much these days, but I'm a multishipper kind of gal.)

I love this! thank you! I just checked and I currently have 257 (oh god. how?) fics on a03 and that's not counting the ones that have never left tumblr. Let's see.

9-1-1, Salbucktommy, Starved For Love is dear to me, because it has so many bits of my own heart hidden in there & I just live for the sweet domestic hurt/comfort trope.

9-1-1, Sal/Buck, Those Arms, Those Eyes is one of these brain children that I literally wrote in one sitting, mostly because everyone was screaming at me in the tumblr comments and I loved everything about it. Yum, readers' anguish.

I write in lots of different fandoms, but I'll stick mostly to 9-1-1 here. Still, let me point out that this one Teen Wolf, Sterek, Wolves Are Just Wild Dogs, Right? has part of my backbone and it was so much fun writing it.

9-1-1, Bucktommy, Grief is like a hurricane is deeply personal to me. This is what grief felt like to me back went it hit me the hardest.

9-1-1, Saltommy, Caught > gotta have one Saltommy on here, because I loved this dynamic hardest in the beginning. Sal's a little cruel in this one, but only because Tommy asked for it. And that feels very true to their relationship to me.

... and honestly i could name so many. I could also name a few that I severely dislike now (but then again, we all hopefully change and grow as writers so I guess that's just part and parcel of the whole thing.). But those were the first I saw while skimming over the list that mean something to me. So that's that.

couldn't type the comment on 'how I missed you' bc of your settings but I had to say it:

hotness aside, my fav lines were 'It's easy to fold this secret in between breathless little noises, to admit it here - even when Tommy dares to look down, to focus on Evan entirely.' & 'It's desperate; it's all the things unsaid - it's the pieces of both of them finally, finally falling in a way that makes them settle together without gaps, the little cracks nothing but beautiful imperfections that they'll learn to fill with gold.'

for two diff reasons! tommy confessed his secret outloud and even then he cant/doesn't register bucks reaction until he looks him in the eye and sees the love and devotion and the poetry if the ending line. kintsugi but still a wip! complete but not final! 💖💖💖
