why is the dude with the keyboard a meme now?

Two reasons, as far as I can tell:1. The original concept is hilarious, and is just a perfect combination of elements that spark mockery. It feels almost like a parody in its own right, it’s the epitome of shitty self-absorbed Soundcloud artist cuture. His “remix” (he genuinely calls it a remix) is rubbish, just tapping a really basic drumbeat over a pre-existing song. On its own, not much to laugh at, tracks like this are ten a penny. But his look, his self-absorbed dancing and movements as if the track is fire, the “why so genius” poster in the background, just so much going on that’s worthy of ridicule. And, the element that I think was the final spark, it was going around unironically with the caption “Mozart”, the icing on the cake.2. It’s a very workable format: Guy hits buttons, sounds trigger, and he jams out like he just did something amazing. Put pretty much any funny sounds there, and it works.The combination of it being inherently funny + being very easy to work with gives it great meme potential.
