Fall Crocus 'Oxonian'. I never knew there were crocus that bloomed in the fall until recently. I gave these a shot thinking there is no way they would come up. They sure did though. What a pretty pop of color on a cold day.

Oxford Alumni Group Spotlight on Ottawa
My colleagues at the Oxford University Society in Ottawa and I are grateful to the University’s North American Office, for featuring us in its newsletter.
Oxford’s alumni are scattered across the globe. But the ties that bind us together run deeper than the foundations of the modern world.
They have proven more enduring than the countless kingdoms, countries, and empires that have risen and fallen away over the University’s 1'000-year history.

Renewal of Oxford’s Norham St Edmund
My old College, St Edmund Hall, suggested that I send a message to my fellow matriculants.
I initially thought it was a truly terrible idea. During our time at Oxford, my friends and I had a talent for causing University authorities no end of hysterical grief.
But after so many years, perhaps the time has come for us to make some amends.

Oxford Alumni in Ottawa 2025 AGM
It was a cold day but a warm gathering for the Oxford alumni AGM in Ottawa.
Between us, we speak different languages, profess different faiths, and come from different communities. Nevertheless, we are all drawn together by a shared sense of identity as graduates of our University.
The conviction that we need not be like one another, to belong with one another, is all too rare in the modern world.

The creation of a new Trust Corporation sews up some loose ends regarding liability of trustees.
The Oxford Union Society Trust
The Oxford Union recently celebrated its 200th anniversary, as the world's foremost debating society.
Throughout that history, its assets have been safeguarded by Trustees, who have protected the institution for successive generations of Oxford students.
I am delighted to join Tory Frame, Jeremy Mayhew, Zara McGlone, and Jocelyn Ormond as Directors of the Union's Trust Corporation.

Vote for new chancellor of the University of Oxford breaks with centuries of tradition
For the first time in 800 years, Oxford will select its new Chancellor in an election open to Oxonians living anywhere in the world.
It is easy to dismiss the role as a ceremonial artefact of a distant past. But when I was President of the University's Student Union, I saw the Chancellorship's capacity to project reason into the public sphere, and to defend the value of thoughtful scholarship in public discourse.
