Over the last year, I seem to have had a little career change. I've written on here in the past about how The Drowned Man changed my life. Back then I meant in terms of a new-found appreciation of contemporary dance, new discoveries of books and unusual theatre, new friends, and, of course, immersive theatre.
And then it seemed to move on a step further… I became friends with Vinicius Salles (above), co-directed hugely ambitious amateur production Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On with Sarah Heenan, and somehow became a professional theatre producer (currently still alongside my day job in magazines). I'm still not entirely sure how this happened. But The Drowned Man is entirely to blame (or thank). Indeed, our R&D even featured Drowned Man cast: Sonya Cullingford (pictured above. Photo: Teresa Elwes) and James Sobol Kelly.
Vini and I were incredibly lucky to get Arts Council Funding for Stage 1 of our project, as well as help from Croydon Council and many of you lovely people via Indiegogo. We have one week to go of this stage (in Canterbury next week) and then we're back to planning and applying for the next bits. So watch this space for news of what's next. 2018 could be a very exciting year indeed.
