I am starting The Origins Legacy Challenge. You start with 4 founding families in a completely blank save. The families fund all of the community lots themselves, and as a group, you build your world up completely before you can move on to the next one. You get to watch your world grow, and the families grow too!

I'll be doing rotational play with this one, which is new and exciting for me! Look out for my introduction posts about the founding families coming up right behind this one!

Founding Family 3: Tupua

Nyree and Rowan met at a networking event and immediately hit it off. Nyree’s drive and dedication to climbing the ladder caught Rowan by the heart. The two spent a short time dating, until Nyree got pregnant. Neither were upset, they were excited actually. They had a courthouse marriage and gave birth to a beautiful girl, Merit.

Merit only has one speed and it’s the maximum. She loves any athletic activity and tries to challenge herself as much as possible. Growing up she spent way too much time on the monkey bars before moving into weightlifting and running as a teen. She often clashes with her parents because of her lack of care for things school or job related. They think she doesn’t take things seriously, but she’s taking building up her body seriously. One day she hopes to be a professional athlete.

Margin came along not long after Merit. Margin loves animals, he loves the outdoors, and he’s absolutely brilliant. He easily excels in school, which makes him a bit of a golden child in his parents’ eyes. If it were up to him though he’d spend all day outdoors with their dog Clover.

Nyree and Rowan saw the advertisement for moving into a brand new world, and they saw an opportunity for growth. They would grow Willow Creek into a functioning city. The kids weren’t totally against it, so that was it. They packed up and headed to Willow Creek.

Founding Family 4: Turner-Ridgeway

Abby Turner is a good girl. That’s what her mother would always say. “This is my daughter Abby, she’s a good girl.”

That definitely wasn’t what she was saying when Abby told her she was pregnant. It was more like a slew of insults and screamed words of rage. She demanded Abby either get an abortion or get out of her mom’s house. Abby, already attached to the little sim growing inside of her, got out.

She moved in with her boyfriend and baby daddy, Logan, and Logan’s chaotic guardian and older brother, Wyatt.

Rumors circulated in their small town about the news of Abby’s pregnancy. People she’d known and loved for ages gave her dirty looks whenever she and Logan were near. Logan, sweet Logan, was crippling under the weight of their town’s collective shaming. Abby was miserable too.

Wyatt saw the ad for moving to a blank city, gave them the gist, and they all started packing. Get away from this judgmental hell? Yes, please. They just hope the other families will be better than the friends and family that wrote them off as scum.

Founding Family 2: Westfall

The Westfalls are a chaotic, messy, vibrant family. Phoenix does what he wants when he wants and then somehow skirts the consequences later. His husband Jasper keeps him and their two adopted children from going too far, but is usually happy to be pulled into the fun. Their son Noa is all teenage angst and gloomy thoughts, but has a genuine interest in the arts that Phoenix and Jasper are heavily encouraging. Sky is sunlight personified, the complete opposite of her older brother, but the two are thick as thieves. Along with their raccoon, Gremlin, who knows what this family will get up to?

Phoenix saw the ad for the opportunity to move to an undeveloped world, and was taken away with grand ideas of building a city the way he thinks it should be built. Jasper sits him down for a semi-serious conversation (as serious as Phoenix gets, anyway) and they talk over the logistics of the plan. When they’re both firmly in the fuck yes, let’s do this column it sparks a family discussion about it at breakfast. Both kids are thrilled, Phoenix and Jasper are thrilled. Let’s fucking go!

Founding Family 1: Kensington

Percival Kensington is a truly evil, greedy man. While as not as mean as his father, his son Victor has turned out the same way. Victor’s estranged teenage twins both disapprove of their father and grandfather’s shady business practices. His son Leo is vocal about his disapproval, while his sister, Lydia, internalizes hers.

Leo is brilliant, but doesn’t know who he wants to be after high school. He just knows he doesn’t want to be like his father and grandfather. Maybe he can start a business. Or get a fun job, or a cool job. He just doesn’t know.

Lydia desperately tries to be the perfect daughter and perfect student so that her father will notice her. Truly see her, even if it’s just once. She’s always wanted them to be a family like the ones she sees in sitcoms. A stern, but loving father, and everyone gets along. They all love each other. Lydia’s not sure she can say that about her family. She loses herself in homework, extra credit, school projects, studying late into the night. Her father’s never spared her a glance, but she’s holding out hope…

When Percival makes a bad investment, they lose all of their fortune, devastating both Percival and Victor. When the opportunity for a fresh start in a brand new world arises, they jump at the chance.
