i need him like no one has ever needed a man ever before. hes so cute n adorable and his face is so kissable and his eyes are so pretty and his hair is so luscious and soft and i dont give a fuck that he turned evil. MY MAN MY MAN MY MAN MY BABY MY BABY !!!!! hes just A BABY BRO STOP
So there's been plenty of stuff going on recently that have made me maybe think of starting to post again!!
Unfortunately I was diagnosed with stage 2 hodgkins lymphoma a few months ago, which is basically a fancy name for cancer in my lymph nodes. Which was (and is) awful I won't lie to you. I was extremely sick for a long time and its still rough everyday. But!!! I'm getting a lot better and hopefully will finish chemo in the next 2 months. This also does explain why I felt so unmotivated and tired in my last few posts so im glad to know that sometimes writers block isn't just writers block, sometimes its cancer.
Anyways, because I've cancer and am now immunocompromised, it's not exactly possible for me to leave the house much. This paired with not being able to work and having no school has left me with a LOT of time on my hands. So there may be a few posts on the way? MAYBE im not sure yet. I just wanted to pop on and give a bit of an update. I missed you guys and im gonna try my best to try writing again!!!!
Also on the off chance that anyone on here has ever had cancer or has experienced being immunocompromised and being unable to leave the house PLEASE hop into my dms with advice cus I am kinda losing it here:)
i hate men that ask me "u up" not even a question mark in sight. like no im not up, i have my hair curlers in, cream on my face, listening to good music, and reading an 80 chapter fic about satoru gojo with a reader insert on ao3 no im not up, not to u at least
can i just say that i love love LOVE your House fics, you write him so well and they're just so comforting !! 🤍
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! This gives me the PERFECT opportunity to yap about House!
Yap incoming!!!
I love writing for House, he is genuinely such an interesting character to dive into, I find it pretty easy to tell when/if he's going ooc even if it's just by a bit because his personality is so one of a kind. Not to say that when I write him it's always in character but I can at least recognise when it isn' t.
(This is why I love that compliment especially, being told I write him well or on character. I think it's because I'm autistic lol, I'm currently trying not to take on his traits myself)
I started writing agere fics about 4 months ago and quickly found that the most interesting and sometimes difficult part of doing that is getting a feel for how a certain character would respond to regression as a concept. Obviously when I write my characters I have them all accepting of regression because, yk that's what this account is for, but I love finding different paths to this acceptance. That's what I found so fun with House. I knew that he would find it out himself off the bat because, well, he's House, but I also knew he'd want to show off, to challenge his ducklings and see if they'd come to the same conclusion. That also had the affect of letting the reader know that he knew. It was an act that I knew House needed to do for himself and it also provided a way to push the plot along.
On this same line of not letting him get too ooc I always have to be careful that I'm not making the old man too soft. Obviously House is an asshole but deep deep deep down he cares. So, he rolls his eyes at the reader, he makes out that they're annoying him but at the end of the day he truly cares. He calls them kiddo, he helps them with their fever, he takes them out of work when they're too sick, he's objectively a bad person but he's a good caregiver and sometimes that line can be difficult to tread.
Also I love House because he's autistic and disabled!!!! Like me!!!! On a somewhat immature level I love him so much just because I can relate to him - obviously not on the entire medical malpractitioner/genius side, but on the simple basis of living in a kind of secret pain that you can't talk about. He's one of the most authentic and real representations of an autistic person I've ever seen. A lot of times autistic people are seen as childlike or innocent but House is certainly neither of those things. He's an asshole, an addict and certainly not innocent.
House is such a deep character and everything about him has this kind of magnetic pull that made it so easy for me to write for him, especially the first time. Certain characters I can get tired of writing for even though I love them and that's ok, but I haven't gotten tired of writing House and I'm not sure I will. He's certainly a taxing character sometimes, but the feeling I get when I finish a fic about him and see that it's (from what I can tell) on character is amazing, it's only maybe paralleled by the way I feel when I write for Joe Goldberg, a character who has a similar yet wholly different kind of intricacy.
Writing for House also has given me a wayyyyy bigger respect for the writers of the show because DAMN writing the quips is hard but writing actual medical jigsaws? Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy actually.
Anyways I don't know if any of that made sense or if I tried to make my agere fanfic about an old, gay, autistic doctor wayyyyyy more academic than it ever needed to be but yeah!!!! Thank you so so so much for the compliment, I LOVE HOUSE AND I WILL BE WRITING MORE!!!!!!!! (guys feel free to ask me to yap about my other characters because I WILL do it again.)
i feel like a narcissist when im writing a book and i base the whole character on myself and its basically a pseudo-biography but spoiler im killing her off? like is that narcissism or a cry for help? who knows
