Mad World || EJ & Aislin
EJ sat back in her small corner of Vane, the one corner that no one ever seemed to come back around by unless they were selling drugs or taking them, and as of late, no one had been around there except for her. People were beginning to take their hobbies home, whereas she preferred to do them under the bright lights of the nightclub where the people there wouldn’t judge her and she couldn’t get in trouble unless someone was looking for her. Even then, it could just as easily be chalked up to the atmosphere of the building if she was acting strange.
Two syringes sat on the table, neither of them used yet as EJ nursed a glass of whiskey, a lit cigarette dangling from her fingertips. The music as pounding loudly in her ears and she bobbed her head along to the beat as she did one of her favorite things: people watching. She enjoyed looking at all of the dancers and grinders that found solace in the warmth of other people’s bodies. This was where she belonged and though it pained her to go against Florentin’s requests to stay away from the club for a little while, she set her glass down and put the cigarette between her teeth, picking up one of the syringes with nimble fingers, holding it up to the light to inspect the drug inside for any air bubbles.
Just as she was looking at the liquid, flicking the barrel once, twice to relieve it of any air that might agitate it going in, she caught sight of a girl who looked familiar and yet not. She looked like the kind of person EJ had seen once or twice, but also she looked like someone who might not really have belonged in Vane. She didn’t have the same sunken in look that many people had and as she set the syringe down once more, she watched the girl, her interest growing as she took another drag on her cigarette.
