Everyone was exhausted, after the long day they had yesterday with dealing with the breech in the gate and dealing with a small herd. The night was long as well as they were up late moving the bodies, burying their own--it was weird calling the people of Alexandria their own but now that they were all living together they were also their people, but they were in no way family. Family is different, family is bonds and relationships built over time--Beth knew who was in her family and it wasn’t anyone from Alexandria, she doubted she would ever accept any of them into her family. Of course she was nice to them, she made friends with them but being a part of a family was going through ups and downs together, dealing with all the bullshit outside these walls and being there for one another--something the people of Alexandria never had to experience.
The walkers--they burned them, it was crazy too see how many of them actually breeched the walls, it looked like it was close to fifty the fire smelled terrible and the stench of rotting dead flooded through the town the entire night--it was so bad that Beth could even smell it in the house that night. The stench would go away though, the blood would get washed away and things would slowly go back to normal. Her whole family was exhausted all crammed in the living room of one of the houses, just talking. They were trying to figure out what to do about the whole walker situation, trying to figure out if the person that let the walkers in did it intentionally or if it was just an idiotic mistake. Everyone was tired and it was written on all their faces but Judith managed to make everyone smile, she sat in the corner of the room talking gibberish, talking over Rick which caused Beth to giggle to herself and brought a smile to most of the others.
Beth was seated on the love seat beside Daryl her legs folded underneath her as she sat pretzel style, her back relaxed into the couch as Rick finished his conversation so that the others could talk--it had been a stressful past few days and Judith talking over Rick just reminded Rick that they needed to have some lighter moments. Carol began to talk about some pie recipe that she wanted to try, sometimes Beth wondered if Carol forgot she didn’t have to put an act on for their family or if she was just so used to putting it on for the others that sometimes she brought it home. Regardless Beth listened letting out a quiet yawn as she slightly leaned into Daryl unintentionally as she listened to Carol speak.
