The fire’s glow illuminated his face, an unconscious frown settled on his face as he gazed into the flames, lost in his own roaring thoughts. The warmth did little to help the chill that had settled in his chest at the sight of the memoriam gratified onto the trees. He felt the nerves clawing within him, threatening to tear their way out of his chest. “Fucking keep it together Rowley.” The words came out in a low hiss, so quiet they were lost to all the bodies around him, the sound the crackling pyre overpowering it. He was not someone who became unravelled, in fact he often prided himself in his typical relaxed demeanor - but he could not shake this fear loose. Sensing someone approach to stand next to him, he turned, locking eyes with the late great Gia Fox. The frown melted instantly, his typical easy smile settling in with practiced speed. “Gia,” he said cheerfully, and he continued to speak smoothly with his hybrid Irish English brogue. “What’s a girl like you doing in a place like this?”
