Nathan slipped his hands in the front pockets of his jeans, tight and black and the same pair he'd been wearing for the last couple of days, if he was honest. He'd been having to get up early ever since he arrived for the tour, grabbing his camera and following people around to get the pictures he was assigned to and attending staff meetings. If he wasn't up at the crack of dawn, then he was most likely late for something. So, being the boy he was, he tended to grab the first thing he could find, which always happened to be his favorite jeans, rip in the knee, a small bleach stain on the thigh. He hoped Kira wouldn't notice; maybe the fact he actually decided to change his shirt from earlier would distract, or the fact he actually did his hair today. He stepped out of the elevator once it reached the main floor and pulled a hand from his pocket to hold the doors for a woman and her little boy, offering them a small smile in acceptance of their thanks. Once they were in and the doors had closed, he found his way to the lobby and looked around, scoping for familiar faces. He recognized fans and staff members he hadn't yet had the chance to talk to, and wondered when the day might come that he would. It'd definitely be later than sooner.
He sat himself on one of the tufted sofas, melting into the soft cushions and resting his hands in his lap. He thought he should text her or something, but each inclination he had toward pulling his phone from his jacket pocket resulted in a flood of loud thoughts. She'd get annoyed, she'd get mad, she'd opt out of even coming with him at all. What if she already had? What if she wasn't going to come at all? Behind his loud thoughts were always the softer, reassuring ones. The ones telling him that it was going to be okay and that he was overreacting. He always heard that voice of comfort, as quiet and muffled as it may be, but he could never really bring himself to listen to it. Nathan pushed a slow breath through his nose and looked down at his fingers, the pit of his stomach turning with something other than hunger.
