Old Habits ; Bora & Minhyun
@247xbora
It had been a normal day at the radio station today, the normal malfunctions of suddenly a microphone not working - and it not only being a microphone but an actual cable that needed to be replaced -, the monitoring of an interview show and general maintenance work that “urgently needed to be done today”, so he had been told when he had asked to leave a little earlier than usual. He was glad to finally be sitting down in a small coffee shop where he had agreed to meet Bora after he was done with work. She had suggested to check out the mall just walking distance from the place they had agreed to meet at, he remembered the text message.
He didn’t exactly know when going on these small shopping trips together with Bora had become a habit rather than a simple favor. It used to be, definitely, just a favor back in high school when he had just been trying to start new, when he had tried to get out of the bullying that had had continued for way too long already back then. Despite taking off his glasses and looking ahead instead of staring into the ground had been a start to him getting by better in his first year in Cheongnam High, he had known that doing just that certainly wouldn’t have done the magic alone. Would it have been so easy to transform into someone who actually appealed to people, he would have done it long ago.
It was Bora who had offered to help him back then, he wasn’t sure anymore if it had been her who had approached him first or the other way around, and had taken him on an emergency shopping trip. That all was so distant and far away in the past now, but he still remembered that a one time thing had eventually called for a follow up, followed by another time that they had decided to go shopping together and so on. Minhyun also remembered how she had enjoyed picking clothes that she thought would suit him, how that enjoyment would never die down and he thought it was kind of endearing, and became something enjoyable.
And so, it had eventually become a casual and almost regular thing to go shopping together every now and then and continued even until after high school. It happened more than often that Minhyun didn’t actually buy anything in the end, perfectly content with the wardrobe that he currently had - however, it was always kind of relaxing to look around. For a little moment he thought back again; and he realized it had already been a while since the last time they had met up like this. At least a month, he wondered as he took out his phone to open the calendar app to count the days with no better task at hand at the moment, not that it really mattered anyway. It was something out of the ordinary, for him at least, and he was looking forward to it.
