Woe Has Joined.
There was no expression on her face as she walked the halls of the FBI headquarters. Two weeks as punishment was almost hell for someone that didn’t know what to do with her time off the field. But also, it had taken almost five additional days for her doctor to give her full clearance. Still, A.B. had been a little closer to Hell than most agents and she didn’t want to be in the place of those who had seen it completely. However, walking into Millers’ office felt great.
Their exchange was quick, with no room for politeness or small talk. A.B. was done with her suspension, the clearance was on Millers’ desk and her badge was back on its place around her neck. The remorse was clear on the older Agent’s face, but A.B. gave her no room to apologize, and certainly, there was nothing to explain. They were just doing their jobs. If A.B. thought at some point that they could establish something beyond professionalism, the feeling wasn’t there anymore.
It wasn’t pettiness, but A.B. couldn’t feel the same amount of respect for a woman that put her personal interests above the greater good.
Her steps took her to another floor and soon enough she was walking into the BAU. She waved at Morgan, sitting on Emily’s desk. They seemed tired, no doubt barely getting home from a case, but they pointed her directly to the woman she was looking for.
Leaning on the frame of the open door, A.B. smirked. A hot cup of coffee in each hand as she looked at her partner. Her stiff posture relaxed immediately. If anyone was looking at her in that moment, they wouldn’t have a single problem profiling her. She was happy to see the other woman.
“Hey there, stranger.“
