“Koffler will take the place of a waiter, every fifteen minutes he will report to you. He’s our contact with you, but make sure to exchange as little as possible, after all, he’s just another waiter. Wilkes will wait in the car. We’ll make sure to have a way out at any given time. And Briggs will be the backup in case we need her.“
Sabik knew every single thing about the mission. Everything had a place and a reason to be. This operation had started over a month ago. Her team wasn’t the only one involved, but they were the first option when it came to the final stage. Actually, she was the right person for it thanks to her fluidity on Russian.
Finding a way in hadn’t been easy. Getting an invitation, learning the story behind the charade and polishing every single detail would take time they didn’t have. But Sabik felt ready. Even with the team in close proximity, a wrong step could end it all.
She had no wires on her, not even a weapon. Truthfully, there wasn’t much space with the dress selected. It had to be specific as well. The pattern would send the right signal to find their target. The dark blue fabric fit like a glove; making her eyes even more vibrant, the Russian accent felt natural. Her new identity; Lena Volkova, was ready for the party to start.
“We got this, boys.“ Sabik said to both men in her team. “Stay vigilant. Koffler, you have my back. Be nice and charming like always.“
There was a smirk from the man as he finished tying his tie and left first to join the servers’ crew. They would do an initial checkup, but they could sneak almost anything with the pantry.
“Wilkes, it’s time.“ Millers said before giving an encouraging nod to the blonde. “Let’s get the show started.“
Following Wilkes through the corridors, blue eyes tried to find the missing piece of her team. Briggs was nowhere to be seen. It wasn’t something to worry about. Not really. Millers didn’t seem worried so everything seemed to be on the right path, but A.B. wanted to have a minute with the taller woman.
“Oliver, have you seen Briggs?“
“Don’t worry,“ he said with a mischievous smile she didn’t like. “You’ll see her soon enough.“
Despite the questioning as they rode the elevator to the floor level, Wilkes didn’t cave. Barbara would have to forget about the topic since their mission had started.
