pt. I
While she had planned that one of her first acts in the new year that was just starting would be to face her parents about their lies; the moment she decided to leave Melbourne had been unexpected and since she had promised Arthur that she would let him know about her decisions, the moment she moved up from her bed and started packing, her fingers dialed the number she knew too well, and after a few words exchanged she had an unexpected response. Pippa was glad that he offered his presence, because solitude had never sit well with the young woman. And while she was asking too much as David would stay in the city, she couldn’t decline it and she didn’t. Pippa appreciate his choice through the flight and even more as she faced the door of the house she grew up in.
Part of herself assume that after she left, they’d move out of that house, for another one - whether it was a better one or not. But they didn’t, which showed that she clearly didn’t know anything about them. With a sigh, she looked at the man next to her, a weak smile that she was wearing from the moment she left her apartment back in Melbourne. “Thank you for coming. You can stay here if you’d like to, you don’t need to get inside with me... there’s a high chance it’ll be a quick conversation, part of myself don’t want to get in there.” Her words almost came out as a whisper but they were audible enough to reach Arthur. “I don’t like this house.” And that wasn’t a lie. Even if that was also the place she grew up with her grandmother, it was also the place where her parents made of her life a nightmare, the same one she would run away from straight to one of her friend’s place. “I can do this. I can do this. Right?” And then, she looked at Arthur. She needeed the validation of her thoughts, that she was capable of going through that moment in her life.
