alone together; chiyo&maaya
People aren’t supposed to be like this.
Maybe it was the right time to her to stop talking, thinking about how hurt she was over her own loss. Hundreds… thousands of people’s tragedies, sometimes more or less serious, even familiar to hers own tend to happen every day. There was nothing special about her pain, after all, right? She wasn’t sure, feeling as her burden grew with each day, making it harder to ignore, harder to wave aside and to move on.
Chiyo didn’t expect to find an answer in a dancing school. About a year ago she’d started attending one of the courses for beginners, with a wish to improve her coordination in mind. During 3rd or 4th lesson, she was approached by a young instructor, her features oddly stern and serious, making the other’s frame squirm in discomfort as she didn’t know what to expect. The older girl would put her hands on Chiyo’s sides, her black hair fluttering on air as she shook head furiously. “You need to stop being so stiff here.” A soft yet exigent voice, accompanied by pressure put on her middle, made the younger one fix her face with dumbfounded glance.
And since that, every weekend the two of them would met in practice room for an extra lesson. Chiyo couldn’t help but feel like an ugly duckling around Maaya, whose moves were smooth and just perfect compared to her awkward, unpolished ones. As the time passed, they’d grown closer. It started with the younger talking about her friend from the school club. An innocent conversation turned into a talk about girls and Takenouchi not even flinched at the Morie’s conclusion;
accepting and understanding the blues of an adolescent heart. The female’s embrace felt like home like… Aoi.
Projecting her fears and needs onto Maaya screamed wrong but she couldn’t help but only hope that the other didn’t mind it, how alone together they were.
On this summer day she came to the studio, a little present hidden behind her back, a regretful smile playing on her lips as she announced. “Maaya-san, this is our last lesson. I’m going to be an idol.”
