Let's Talk || Matt & Cora
Matt sat in his apartment, waiting for Cora to arrive. Looking around, he realized how empty it looked. After all, no one lived here except him, and he hadn't really bothered to purchase any furniture. Everything was simply what he needed. Most of his belongings were still in boxes, stacked against a wall, filled with the photographs he couldn't bear to look at. Their smiling faces, and the memories he once shared with them. Matt bit his lip. Loosing them had been a nightmare, and one that he faced daily. They had been his anchor, and everything he had cared about.
Shrugging to himself, he gave a long sigh. His parents and friends were gone. Despite making new ones, like Cora and so many others he had grown to care about, nothing felt the same without him. Where they had once been, a gaping hole existing, and one that would not be easily filled. A part of him had died with them, one he knew would never return. After all, they had carved themselves in to each other. There had been no secrets between them. They were simply carefree and full of life, close as family and like brothers in war.
The bond they had shared as a pack, was one meant to last a lifetime. Meant to stand the test of time, and now it laid a tattered mess. It wasn't a feeling of abandonment. Matt knew, that they had not left him by choice. Death had stolen them from him. Death that had been named the Corporate Brotherhood and Nathan Samuelson. Nathan... Matt shook his head, trying to chase the bright memories away. He wanted to lock them up and hide them away. To forget the love he once held, and all the emotions he had experienced.
But Cora... he turned his mind back to her. They were friends. A title he had finally given to their relationship. He had grown close to her and wanted to help her. Though he did not know everything she had gone through, Matt wanted her to know he was there for her. Trust had been hard to come by, but Cora was someone he knew he could trust. For the longest time, he had been careful with trust. Afraid of being betrayed, afraid of losing those close to him again, but his heart was opening up again. It was a process he couldn't stop.
Matt supposed he was glad he hadn't moved in to the Hale home yet. Away from other ears and being able to speak your mind was a gift, and one he wanted to give Cora. He knew much had happened to her. A lot seemed to be on her mind, and he wanted to listen, to see what he could do to help. After all, Cora had faith more faith in him than he had in himself. For that, he would give her his best.
