i don't like heavy things \ mina&key
what is even the point of working out in a gym if we have dance practice later? key thinks bitterly as he slides ten-pound weights onto the metal bar. the coach told him he would be starting light when he handed the new trainee his workout sheet, but key personally thinks that even this is a bit too heavy for him.
the bar itself (which is only a training bar, really) weighs fifteen pounds, and with ten-pound weights on either side, it goes up to thirty five. the non-training bar is a whole forty five pounds on its own, but the coach told him he wouldn't be starting on that until next week. oh, joy.
he's trying to mentally prepare himself for the daunting task of not only lifting a thirty five pound bar, but squatting with it on his back when he notices the girl on the platform next to him having trouble lifting her bar back where it belongs. normally key wouldn't interfere, but she really looks like she's about to fall over, whack herself in the head, or both, so he hurries over and helps her put the bar back up in its holders, which are set at about neck level. thankfully, it seems to be lighter than his own, so he has no trouble.
"you okay?" he asks, mostly to be polite.
