     if a year ago anyone asked jisoo if she could imagine herself being friends with the vocalist of one of her favorite bands, she would have objected right away. ‘impossible!’ ‘never gonna happen!’ and similar thoughts would probably manifest through her mouth while, in reality, she never should’ve thought that way. it’s not like the the brigade was such a huge, popular, totally-unapproachable band no one could ever get close to even if they tried so hard. but jisoo never really thought about befriending any of the members despite being head over heels for all their songs and the members.

     but now, that she’s sitting at the café with the vocalist of the brigade, it doesn’t seem like such a big deal anymore. after all, jongdae is just a normal college student just like her, the only difference being that he can actually sing and probably has a bright future of being a singer ahead of him, unlike jisoo who’s just kind of sitting on the waves of life and riding them without any ambitions regarding what direction she would want to take.

     however, all those facts about jongdae also raises quite a few questions. the most relevant one being: why isn’t he dating anyone? his band might not be that popular, but they do have quite the fanbase that includes a lot of fangirls (just like jisoo) as well. he’s attractive, his voice is great, so really, what’s supposed to be the problem here?

     “hey,” she starts, taking two sips of her freshly served frappuccino, eyes kept at jongdae sitting across her. “how come i’ve never seen you with a girl? like, do you not even date? not having a girlfriend is one thing, but not even trying...” // @rkxkjd

there was a reason why qri didn’t like working with others. she has always preferred doing projects, tasks, and other (not school-related, too) things on her own because then you didn’t have to rely on anyone else but yourself. you didn’t have anyone to disagree with, to argue about how things should be done and if the project failed, you could only be disappointed in yourself so there was no pressure that you would ruin others’ work or vice versa.

and it was especially  a pain in the ass when you had to work with someone who had entirely different concepts and views than you. that’s probably why christina is grumpier that day than usual; arms crossed over her chest and fingers tapping on her upper arm in a nerve-wrecking rhythm as she walks next to the boy she’s supposed to do the project ‘the history of the korean war’ for their next history class and to say she’s not exactly amused by this fact would be quite an understatement.

they didn’t even enter the museum they’re supposed to visit and gather material for the project from yet and they are already through a somewhat fiery argument about in what way they should do the work; purely virtual or purely on papers, the mix of the two or something completely different, for some reason they simply couldn’t agree so christina ended the conversation with a rather irritated ‘your brain’s capacity doesn’t catch up to mine’s so let’s stop this’ and they haven’t spoken a word since.

and as soon as they near the entrance of the museum, christina starts to have doubts again and contemplates ditching the whole thing and coming back later to do the project herself but she knows her history teacher wouldn’t be happy for it (and professor cho being her favorite teacher, qri certainly didn’t want to disappoint her). so she ignores the irritation building up inside her with a shaky sigh and turns to jaeseok.

“i was about to offer splitting up to avoid future unnecessary clashes of ideas but i guess that wouldn’t be too profitable,” she says, pursing up her lips in a smaller pout before continuing, “i think in the project we should focus on the lives and the quality of them of the korean people in wartime rather than the war itself. everyone already knows a lot about the incident but not nearly enough about all the suffering the civilians had to go through.”

Within weeks Seoul City had become far from a paradise. In a matter of fact the place where once the glistening skycrapers held up the sky and the stars seemed to shine from the ground seemed to convert into a connotation for the extremely sinister and ominous, it was such a pity. Specially for someone like the strawberry blonde haired woman whose artistic soul seemed to feel for what the end of the world had brought along, she had never believed in such theories while growing up. After all a woman that had drowned herself into the deeps of the knowledge couldn't care less about what she couldn't see, touch or prove. Skeptical? Perhaps, but ain't all the science people like that? Shaking her head at her own thought, Lee Qri stepped away from the glass made window that none quite understood why she liked looking through so much, it wasn't the wisest thing to do at a refuge and the view wasn't quite fetching, yet you could never blame someone's wish for freedom.

Thinking back at how skeptical she was back then, the petite woman nodded her head as if assuring herself that she had learned well with her own mistakes, after all, when she realized that the HIV virus modification project was a one-way ticket to hell and back no one had believed her. Because to quote her father's old co-workers: Qri was too young to understand what amazing results it would get, no matter how brilliant of a scientist she actually was. But even if a few months later someone had believed in her, long raven colored hair, cold doll-like face, a few inches taller than herself and a few years younger that was basically how to describe the closest she had ever got of a best friend. Son Naeun.

The geneticist's thought bubble was poped as soon as the hard banging against the door echoed through the small apartment, it didn't took more than a few seconds to the door to hit the floor and those things started to crowded up in order to reach for her inside the apartment. Hissing under her breath, The strawberry blonde haired woman did her best to push the couch she had formerly being sit at in order to block their way to the corridor even if momentarily. With only one thing in mind, the petite woman made her way towards the younger girl's room as quickly. "Naeun-ah, get up!" Jihyun requested, not waiting for an formal response from the pretty brunette as she basically dragged the younger out of her bed through her hand, in the most gently way possible.

"Get your weapons and let's get out of here." How Qri could still sound so calm even in those situations were still a mystery for herself, but the older one always though that being able to think rationally would be ready than freaking out, she was controlled enough for that. "No time to packing, let's go!" She hurried Naeun out as soon as the loud noises from the living room seemed to be getting closer which wouldn't take longer, it was an appartment after all. "Here is the plan: We go down the fire emergency stairs from your windown and run for dear life!" Shouting the bathroom's door shut and locking it to at least save both of them a bit of time she glanced the younger with a clear message: Go, I'm right behind you.
