If/Then | Noah + Elsa
Elsa had been so angry as she waited outside the restaurant because she honestly thought Noah was a good guy and couldn’t believe that he had been stood her up. Elsa didn’t just go on dates with people so to have agreed to the date in the first place meant a lot more to her than others would believe; she put people through the ringer because she wanted to filter out the people who were dicks, the people who were going to stand her up, and the people merely looking for a single night with her. After ten minutes of waiting for Noah, Elsa angrily dialed him and waited for him to pick up so she could give him a piece of her mind but that was when everything had changed.
Noah didn’t show up because he had been shot and was in the hospital. Finding that out sent an icy chill throughout her entire body. Instant guilt washed over as she remember just how angry she had been with him. Of course he wouldn’t stand her up or anyone up, he wasn’t that type or at least that was what it seemed like, and now she felt so bad for even thinking that. Hanging up with the nurse, Elsa looked at the clock on her phone and realized she would have to wait another ten minutes for a bus but she could get an Uber in at least three minutes. Taking the Uber from Amy’s Delight to the hospital to see him. She was sure the nurse would tell him about the call or he’d see that she called once he got possession back over his phone but she still wanted to visit him. To check up on him.
Elsa couldn’t believe that she was in the hospital. In the hospital visiting the man she was supposed to be on a brunch date with right now. She was thankful her visit was during visiting hours because if she wasn’t then she would have to pretend that they were engaged which Elsa didn’t believe she could realistically pull off. But she didn’t have to worry about that when she asked the nurse what room Noah was in and headed off in that direction.
Entering his room, Elsa sat in a chair and looked to the sleeping officer. She didn’t know where to look or what to look at so she looked to her hands as she waited for some sign of him waking up from his rest. “Hey,” Elsa whispered as she heard some movement coming from the bed and watched as his eyes open. “I almost brought a big ass takeout bag but I wasn’t sure they would let me in with it. I don’t think you can have buttloads of bacon after surgery.” The attempt of humor was the only thing she could think to say because she hadn’t been in this situation before. She had identified both her parents but she had never visited anyone in the hospital before and was lost at what to do.
