jiwon couldn’t believe she was actually leaving the country. after months of being suffocated by the company, she had finally decided to leave and pursue an alternate path. she had studied hard on her english and made youtube videos in her free time, and now, she was finally leaving for the united states. it was like a dream that she never expected to happen. it was strange how everything played out, but in all honesty, she had no regrets. she was excited about the new life ahead of her, though she was a tad worried seeing as she had very few, if any, connections there.
she wasn’t taking much with her, so the easiest way to get to the airport (and least conspicuous for daeeun’s sake) was by taxi. she didn’t say much, unsure of what to say if she were to be honest. it was unlike her to be so quiet beside him, but perhaps part of it was because she was nervous about leaving him. the other part was simply sad that he wouldn’t be going with her. “i can’t believe i’m leaving,” she finally noted as the cab pulled into the loading zone.
to say that byul was growing up too quickly was an understatement. it seemed that with each blink, sunhwa was watching her daughter get bigger and bigger. then again, several months had passed since she had given birth, so of course it made sense that byul was no longer the tiny newborn that she had been when she had brought her home on that first day. today, she and daehyun would be bringing her to her first party. well, it was actually a party for she and her boyfriend, but as they couldn’t find a babysitter, their friends noted eagerly that they should bring the little girl so that they could play with her. after all, the two of them were the first to have a child, so having any children around was typically something that simply didn’t happen.
sunhwa was gathering everything that they’d need (diapers, milk bottles, etc.); after all, going anywhere these days didn’t just mean satisfying their own needs but primarily byul’s. daehyun was supposed to be getting her ready. grabbing the bags, she walked into the bedroom, finding her boyfriend playing with his daughter. she smiled as she walked over, leaning in to kiss the both of them on the cheek. “are you guys ready to go? we don’t want to be late,” she pointed out, hand reaching out to push the hair out of byul’s face. “baby, are you ready to go? your first grown-up party,” she teased, as the little girl giggled happily. “come on,” she waved for daehyun to hurry his steps so that they could get going.
sunhwa enjoys all kinds of music, particularly music that she can sing and dance to. however, these days, the most enjoyable music to her is anything that will keep her daughter sleeping peacefully.
♕ - Do they trust easily?
it takes time for sunhwa to trust people, especially now that she’s a mother. she is very overly protective of her daughter, so anyone she interacts with she is very wary of until they can prove to be trustworthy. she was a little bit more
♦ - What is one thing about them that they are most proud of?
the one thing that sunhwa is most proud of is her relationship with daehyun. despite the fact that they are quite childish and nagging with each other, she feels extremely blessed to call him her other half and byul’s father. she believes that it is their strong relationship that can help them raise byul successfully.
violet is absolutely awful at handling rejection. it’ll take her a long time to get over it, which was why job hunting was such a pain and, in the end, she had to turn to her future stepfather for a job in order to avoid more rejection.
☺ - Do they prefer sour or sweet treats?
sweet treats! anything that makes her want to pucker her face is something that she’ll definitely stay away from. however, sweet treats in general are her weak spot, and if you have something sweet to offer her, she’ll love you forever (sort of anyway).
♣ - What is one thing that they find embarrassing? (About them, others, things in general)
she hates asking questions because she’s always embarrassed that they may be considered stupid questions. she’d rather figure things out on her own than ask people for help (unless it’s something that she knows others can help her with).
there are few people, if any, that jonghyun cannot stand. basically, if you hurt any of those that he loves, he will not tolerate you. otherwise, jonghyun will rarely outright dislike someone unless they give him reason to.
★ - Do they prefer daytime or nighttime and why?
jonghyun loves the daytime. as a fan of the outdoors, it is when the sun is out that he gets to be active as he chooses. he’s the type of guy who will get up at the crack of dawn to go out for a run, and he absolutely loves just laying out on the grass and sunbathe ( well, not for too long anyway ).
♠ - What are they afraid of?
there aren’t too many things that jonghyun is afraid of, but one of them is failure. he has big aspirations and dreams, and he puts a lot of pressure on himself to achieve them even when they seem impossible.
[TEXT] I don’t know what happened I was just cooking and then all of a sudden the pasta was on fire! (daehyun ↔ sunhwa)
[ oxuvre ]
sunhwa was thankful that the day was winding down and that meant that she would be getting to go home soon. just three hours, she repeated over and over to herself. when she told herself just how much time she had left, it made the time seem shorter than it really was.
just as she was about to get started on her final task for the evening, she heard her phone buzz. “weird...” she grabbed her phone, seeing a message from daehyun. he never texted her when she was at work, knowing that the likelihood of her checking her messages was rather rare.
[ text ] i don’t know what happened i was just cooking and then all of a sudden the pasta was on fire!
“what the hell,” she mumbled to herself. was he crazy? how could he set the place on fire? a number of questions ran through her mind. what a great birthday gift. the last thing she needed was to worry about stupid things like that. she ran to her boss’ office, bowing repeatedly. “i’m sorry. my boyfriend’s an idiot and set something on fire at home,” she began to explain. “just go home, sunhwa. it’s your birthday anyway. you should’ve taken the day off.” she thanked him again and again as she quickly left the office, each part of the journey to get home seeming to take infinitely longer than it usually did.
when she reached the apartment, her fingers fumbled with the keys as she turned the lock. stepping inside, it was completely dark. nothing smelled burnt. “how strange,” she muttered. as she turned the corner, there was a small flame and sitting behind it was daehyun and their daughter, byul. “what is this?” she asked, rushing over. “i had to find a way to get you home earlier than you would have come home. don’t worry. i told your boss about it ahead of time,” he grinned, as if extremely pleased with himself for lying about what happened and managing to catch her off-guard.
“you should be lucky that you have byul in your arms. otherwise, i would hit you so hard, you’re going to wish you were never born,” she scolded, arms crossed. “yah, sunhwa, why can’t you just enjoy the things that i do for you? your boyfriend worked so hard to get you home early so you can spend time with us,” he noted. she sighed softly. “fine,” she murmured as she took a seat. “now, blow out the candles,” he ordered, waving his hands as if to tell her to hurry. she leaned in, making a wish and blowing it out. she heard him cheer a bit as he stood up to turn on the lights. “what did my pretty girl wish for?” “you’ll never know,” she cried, still pouting at him before she moved closer to him, laying a kiss on his lips. “thank you,” she whispered, smile causing her eyes to finally crinkle a bit at the side.
she didn’t really wish for anything fancy. simply that they would all lead healthy, happy lives because in actuality, she already had everything else in her life. daehyun and byul were all she needed because they completed her, and there was nothing more that she could ask for.
what a strange thought it was to think that she, bae suji, was now a married woman. through all the ups and downs and craziness of their lives, she and soohyun had made it official. they were the talk of the town - high school sweethearts who somehow made it through years of college as a long-distance couple. and now, they were everyone’s role model couple. the number of times she had been told that at the wedding almost frightened her. ‘what pressure,’ she thought to herself, but she had no doubts about her relationship. divorce wasn’t a word in her dictionary. neither was separation. or anything that would cause a break-up between the two of them.
“is this real life?” she asked as she stepped into their newlywed home. it was small but quaint. cozy was the word that she thought of. both sets of parents had put in the money to gift them with this place, and she couldn’t be more thankful. she was very much looking forward to building memories with her husband, starting from tonight.
"oppa,” she noted cutely, wrapping her arms around his neck as she stared into his eyes. “do you know what tonight means?” she wiggled her eyebrows at him. there had always been this unspoken agreement between the two that they would wait for marriage. suzy had thought high school was too early, and being long-distance in college didn’t make for opportunities like that to come about in the first place. some friends had told her it was smart. others told her that it was a dumb idea because compatibility could become an issue.
but she was never worried. she didn’t want her relationship to be focused on the physical aspects. after all, if that were the case, the long-distance plan would have never panned out, and they would have never made it to this day. and well, now they both had something to look forward to tonight, right?
“i didn’t think you were interested in that stuff,” soohyun pointed out bluntly, leaving suzy in a fit of giggles. “oppa...” she whined before leaning in, kissing him softly at first before deepening the kiss. “how would i know if i’ve never tried it before?” she asked, whispering against his lips as one eyebrow cocked upwards. “oh ho ho,” he made a funny noise as he whisked her up into his arms, causing a squeal to slip past her lips.
she would be a liar if she told someone that she wasn’t nervous. her heart was racing like crazy even though they had been together for years and had slept beside each other often. but it was nothing like this. this was the unknown. something that was both exciting and frightening to her. what if he was the one who changed his mind? oh gosh, that thought had just occurred to her. how naïve of her to think that, as long as she wanted to be with him, he would want to be with her as well.
suddenly, she felt her body being laid down on their new bed. a grin emerged on her face as she raised her hands, holding his face gently. not sure why she decided to take charge, she sat up again, moving to push him down onto the bed. “me first, and then we can switch,” she ordered, surprised at herself as to how she suddenly got a tad bit bossy.
she wanted to kiss every inch of him. she wanted to explore the places that she had never explored before. and with that, she started at the top, from his forehead. she peppered kisses on his face though lingered just a tad longer when she ended up at his lips. passion coursed through her veins as their bodies were pressed together, fabric still creating a barrier between the two of them. her hips rolled teasingly ( yay for reading books for advice, suzy thought ) as her lips continued to mark their territory.
“i hope you don’t have any meetings tomorrow,” she started to say before remembering that they were to leave for their honeymoon tomorrow. “oh wait, you don’t have any,” she murmured against his neck as she clamped her lips down on his soft skin, sucking gently at first before getting to a point where she knew she would leave her mark. she could have sworn she might have tasted blood, but perhaps that was in her head. she hoped she wasn’t hurting him.
her fingers gripped at the bottom of his shirt, pulling it upwards and off of him. the expanse of his chest, rising up and down, laid there in front of her as her hands wandered. “this is all mine, hmm,” she noted like an idiot before she looked up at his face. he looked a bit pained, and it was only when she looked further down that she realized why. “did that used to happen? before too?” she pointed at his crotch area. she could be so immature at times. “suji-ahhhh,” he whined, pouting at her. “just let me do this for a little while longer and then it’s your turn, okay?”
she was fairly certain that this wasn’t how things worked, but whatever. it was her wedding night, and they would play by her rules ( he loved her enough to allow her to have a little more fun, right? ). her eyes stared at the tent in his pants, causing her to freak out just a tad. her fingers worked to unbutton the pants and tug them down, struggling as she had to navigate them off. her lips fell against the fabric of his boxers, trailing down his length. she was too scared to look at it, up close and personal. she felt that that was enough torture for him, right?
“okay, your turn!” she giggled, as she fell back on her back, tugging him close to her. “oh, you are dead, mrs. kim soohyun,” he exclaimed as he grabbed the blankets, pulling it over the two of them before he started to work his magic.
69. Our muses are destined to meet at the wedding of a mutual friend
weddings were not ken’s favorite things. not that he had anything against them, but it just made him feel like his single life was even sadder than it really was. but it was his cousin’s wedding, and she was actually close to him, so he could hardly miss it. he supposed he was lucky he wasn’t in the wedding party. at least there was no stress of rehearsals or other preparations at hand.
as he took a seat in one of the pews, he exhaled in relief. he was on time, early actually, so he had some time to just relax before the service was to start. suddenly, he heard a shuffling in his aisle, forcing him to look up. his eyes widened when he noticed just who it was. “hani,” he noted, wondering just what she was doing here. “ken?” it seemed that her disbelief was on the same level as his was. “what are you doing here?” “well, my cousin is the groom, what about you?” “m-my cousin is the bride,” he stuttered.
they were going to be related now? how was this happening? this was not happening. he already had enough awkwardness in his life and her relationship with him to not need this extra strange level of twisted fate to intertwine into his life. “well, well ... at least we’ll get to see what we won’t want in our wedding,” she noted nonchalantly. “ou-our wedding?” he stuttered once again, staring at her. “not like our wedding,” she pointed out. “just our weddings in the future!” she exclaimed though she had said those words purposely to see his reaction. “i’m sure we’ll learn lots,” she noted with a wink before turning back towards the front, leaving a sour taste in ken’s mouth.
