` PURPLE .

bubble, pop, sizzle, hiss...
gabriel’s always found potions class to have possibly the most pleasant atmosphere of all his classes. he likes the way the room fills with smoke of all different colours, sometimes a foul smell or two, the odd explosion and cry of dismay (or occasional pain). although the jars of strange looking ingredients - eyes, tongues, and what gabriel has often suspected are pixies fingers - swimming in green liquid on shelves lining the dungeon walls are, to put it lightly, creepy, there’s something strikingly pleasant about the addition they make to the overall picture of the potions classroom.
so he hums as he tosses one fresh nettle leaf into his cauldron, glancing over at jace and watching as a cloud of purple smoke from across the room floats over his head, bending around the curve of his hair, then dissipating into the air around them, leaving behind the unmistakable scent of hemlock. then his eyes glide over to a gryffindor student who’s frowning over his cauldron, the colour the absolute opposite of what it’s supposed to be. it’s then that the idea floats into his head, drawing his lips up into a mischievous grin.
“hey, jace.” gabriel reaches out to his ingredients and grabs a couple of eel eyes, “you should put these in his cauldron.” nodding his head towards the gryffindor as he whispers. “don’t worry, the effect won’t kill him, trust me, it’ll be hilarious.” the mischievous grin remains etched into his face (and anyone who knows gabriel well knows that grin is a sure sign that he’s about to wreak havoc.
