I love that the yeerks in the army are starving. I love that they’re probably usually bright green and they’re only gray because they’re starving. It’s clear the yeerks need kandrona much more than every three days. They literally disintegrate if they don’t feed by three days. The yeerk homeworld has constant kandrona exposure. If you take a plant out of the sun for long enough it’ll wilt, even if you put it back in the sun periodically, it’s still gonna suffer. It would have been interesting to see the peaceful yeerks or Aftran talk about this as an internal issue for the yeerks.

every character in animorphs is actually fascinating and fucked up in their own, realistic way

Jake: a confident kid who is put into a leadership position. He constantly has to make choices that determine whether he and his friends live or die. So he matures faster and loses his childhood. Then he experiences a loss and just completely breaks down.

Marco: a kid who always used humor to deflect bad situations, slowly driving himself insane because those bad situations are now near constant. Worried he’s going to snap one day and he probably already has. Convincing himself hes “ruthless” to cover up that he’s so scared about what he’s doing.

Rachel: a fun fashionista who was always kinda competitive and anger-prone who now finds herself addicted to the war she’s been forced to fight in. Someone who’s worried, not because killing is too hard, but because it’s too easy. She knows what she brings to the group, she brings an ability to kill that the others take advantage of her for. It’s a two way relationship; they need her when they want someone to die but it not to weigh on their consciousness, and she needs them to assure her that she’s still human, still sane.

Cassie: a pacifist until she’s not. An animal activist who has to choose between her morals and her species near constantly. Who still tries to cling onto her moral code because if she lets go she might lose herself.

Tobias: an already messed up guy who never felt wanted, now trapped in a body that is not his. He’s slowly losing elements of his humanity. He constantly feels like he’s not enough and that he can’t turn to his friends for help bc he thinks they’ll leave him.

Ax: a kid in a strange land who just lost his brother and is honor-bound to avenge him. He has such high opinions of his species and has to continuously have that worldview shattered. All his friends turn to him for knowledge and he doesn’t know enough to satisfy them. He has to choose between his loyalty to his culture and his loyalty to his new friends.

I wonder what happened to the disabled people who joined The Sharing. Like it’s advertised as this all inclusive afterschool activity. So surely some physically or mentally disabled people must have joined right? And we know the yeerks consider disabled people to be useless and defective (or maybe ax was just projecting). So what happened to them?

Jake: I think he would like those history channel “documentaries” about wars and stuff. I think he would really like video essays. He also strikes me as PBS Kids kid, wild kratts and the like. Favorite: Grant miniseries on the History Channel

Rachel: she would love One of Them Days I think, and also trashy action movies. She would like Community and Always Sunny though she doesn’t strike me as a big tv person. She would love Olivia Rodrigo. Grew up watching Yo Gabba Gabba. Favorite: Ocean’s 8

Marco: watches trashy action movies. listens to Tyler the Creator and Taylor Swift (“ironically”). Watches those “1 liberal vs 50 conservatives” videos. I think he would go to the Barbie movie. A clone wars kid. Favorite: Mission Impossible 3.

Cassie: watches those “medical professionals judge if [insert media] is accurate” videos. Posts pictures of her food on instagram but doesn’t post anything of herself because she’s insecure. Watches a lot of animated movies. Canonically listens to NIN so I’m just keeping that. Grew up with the Disney Channel. Favorite: Tangled

Tobias: wasn’t able to access many shows or games or movies but I think he would read comics and sci fi books at the library pre nothlit. Hence I think he would like Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. As a bird he watches whatever Ax puts on. And thus his favorite: hitchhiker’s guide

Ax: worst taste in anything. Watches young Sheldon and is convinced it’s good. Likes nightcore remixes of songs (no hate to them but he likes bad ones). Watches dating shows and awful reality tv. He loves early 2000s club bangers like Where Them Girls At by David Guetta or Blow by Ke$ha (this is the only respectable media he likes) Favorite: Ex-treme dating
