Inside the hangar during my NASA Social adventure at Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. What you see here is a NASA P-3B, basically a flying laboratory packed with microphysics probes and assorted doodads, ready to chase snowstorms for the agency's IMPACTS mission.

The tail end of a @nasa P-3B research aircraft, parked in the hangar at Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia. NASA’s IMPACTS 2020 mission is flying this workhorse, packed with instrumentation, to study the inner workings of snowstorms.

To τελευταίο διάστημα έχει γίνει πολύ συζήτηση για το πρόγραμμα αναβάθμισης και εκσυγχρονισμού 5 ελληνικών P-3B και την μετατροπή τους σε Multi-mission Πλατφόρμες Συλλογής Πληροφοριών παράλληλα με την διατήρηση των ικανοτήτων του στον ανθυποβρυχιακό αγώνα. Με βάση πληροφορίες του ΥΠΕΘΑ η σύμβαση υπογράφηκε το Μάρτιο του 2015 και ήδη έχει δοθεί προκαταβολή 45 εκ Ευρώ στην εταιρεία Locheed Martin…

Historic First Landing of NASA's P-3B in Antarctica

NASA's first ever historic P-3B landing in McMurdo Station, Antarctica on the sea ice runway, which occurred on Nov. 16, 2013. It took the craft 5 days to reach Antarctica from the NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Virginia. You can see the IceBridge Team waiting to greet the flight crew as they taxied for the very first time right up to the IceBridge team tents.
