.: ♫ — Today was supposed to be a fine day. 

Supposed to be.

But as she closed up shop late at night, she couldn’t find herself returning home. Not yet, anyways. Instead, Sonja found herself wandering to the edge of Elysia. She took off her shoes and dangled her legs off the edge. A bit dangerous, sure, but she wasn’t expecting anything to happen. All she needed to do before she got home was to breathe.

It wasn’t that home was stifling, no. She loved going home. But out here she was... Alone, and she could just breathe. Just sit and think on things for a while. As the pale moonlight shone down on her, she looked over the ocean. What was bothering her this badly? She couldn’t piece it together.

But as she tried, she found herself getting a bit of a headache. And there were tears running down her cheeks. Oh gods, not this again.

It seemed that she had just gotten pent up over things that didn’t matter-- not anymore, anyways-- and she just needed to release it all. It was no one’s fault, no one else’s but hers... At least that’s what she thought. Frustrated, she let these tears fall as she stifled a sob. At least she was...

... Alone.

.: ❀ — It had been too long since Kamil had last checked in on Violet. While normally he would have the time to, it seemed that the last month was too busy for him to actually see her. It slightly frustrated him, but he had to bear with it for the most part. After all, he had to help his best friend move back in, and then after that work got busy, then the carnival... Ah, it was all too much.

Hopefully visiting her now would help him unwind. He had bought some sweets and tea from the cafe that sheep girl had (wow, was he seeing her a lot. weird.), so at least he didn’t come empty handed. Kamil knocked on her apartment door, and then waited.

When she had answered the door, he smiled. “Hello, Violet. Thanks for having me over.” Holding up the small bag, so that she’d see it, he said, “I bought some snacks too. A slice of chocolate cake and some tea.”

Frey sat by the shore, fishing rod in hand. Ever since joining the Fishing Club, she wanted to actually invest more in trying to learn the sport. Most people in there were really nice and helpful, even letting her rent out a fishing rod! 

But now came the time of figuring it out. All she had to do was put the hook on the line and the drop it down, right? So... Why was it a lot harder than she thought it would be?

Frey struggled trying to tie the hook to the line as she was directed to. Oh man, in a club full of fisherpeople, she must look... Really stupid.

「 founding celebration dance 2019 ❧ sonja seraphina rostellaire 」

.: ♫ — The dance itself was exciting, if not a bit daunting due to the fact she would be going there alone. Sonja was a bit worried about leaving Zavier alone in the mood he was in-- she noticed the abnormal amount of chocolate milk in the trash-- but after his insistence, she left for the dance.

She wanted to dance with him at the end of the night, but now what would she do? Pulling her bolero closer to her chest, she looked around. Hopefully it would but just as fun as she expected...

It would be hard as her thoughts drifted back to his state at home. But he was the type who wanted to be left alone when he was feeling bad. At least, that’s what she told herself. Out of the two of them, she was the one with the problem of not telling him things. And he had no problem speaking his mind.

... It would be fine, right?

: ♫ —  Spring.

The time of the year that she looked forward to time and time again. Though this year that wasn’t the case. Truth to be told, she dreaded it. Every single day was inching ever closer to her birthday. The eighteenth one. And the priestesses were set on making her the head priestess as her mother was. Due to her untimely death, it was her job to take up the mantle… For whatever reason. They had built her up to be this amazing human being, yet in their eyes she was nothing more than dirt on their shoe. At least, it felt like that. She never did accomplish much, in their eyes. 

But sometimes, that desire came out. The desire to leave. To escape, to find out what it was like to live outside the walls of home- of her island. But... How could she ever leave home? The one thing that connected her to her parents? And she had so many obligations here. She couldn't yield to something so distracting like that. But every day... Yelling, hitting, starving… It was nothing out of the ordinary for the young woman. Always doing something wrong in their eyes. It was terrible, the way they treated her. They controlled her. Yet she still stayed, despite the harsh treatment. Maybe it was because she knew about the gravity of her leaving.

Maybe it was to prove that she was capable of doing something right. 

Her thoughts travelled around, eventually reaching to the outside. She followed, unseen as a ghost, the priestesses unsuspecting. Feeling her bare feet on the grass, she walked along the forests of this mountain, wondering what exactly she would find today. And as she took in the breeze and everything that was around her… She heard an interesting pitch coming from her right side. A different sort of timbre she was used to- the choruses of priestesses never did provide much difference in music. Set to ancient texts, it wasn’t pleasing to the ear at all. But this was… different. New. Sonja liked different.

And so her feet took her there. To the unknown- the sounds of this newfound instrument intriguing her. It didn’t sound like a harpsichord at all. In a clearing, she found a man, poised and ready to play what he was holding.

.: ♫ — There was no need to overdo things. Today was just going to be another day that she could spend with the people she loved. But hey, who says you can’t dress up every now and then? 

Despite not wishing to go out for a fancy date or anything of the sort, Sonja still wanted to look just a bit cuter today. Just a bit.

.: ♫ — When Sonja first met Iluka, she was pretty intimidated. The way that she carried herself with so much power absolutely made her feel so small. Of course, there were times she tried to befriend her, but those ended up not working out in the end-- mainly because she was too nervous and slightly made a fool out of herself.

Even so, she wasn’t going to give up. It’s gotten easier, now that they’ve been working together for almost a year now. They kept finding each other in the same places, making the smallest of small talk whenever they had shifts together at work, or finding each other at the shrine from time to time. But they hadn’t exactly talked a lot.

Well, at least, until today. Sonja found the courage to actually make eye contact and wave at her. With the event coming up, maybe it would be best to get to know each other! Besides, they had worked side by side in the kitchen before, and sweets were her expertise, so maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.

“Hiya Iluka! I heard you were participating in Bouquet Day as a chef-teacher too! You excited about that?” It was a decent conversation opener-- or so she hoped.
