— animosity ; changmin x yoona
it was strange -- for some reason, yoona was in the most pleasant of moods today. she'd felt so lighthearted that when a clumsy little freshman had stumbled into her in the hallway, nearly dropping the stack of books he'd been holding onto her feet, she'd just given him a little smile and nod of the head (so unlike her; she'd have ripped him to shreds) -- the expression of total shock on his face had made her snort as she turned and resumed her stroll around the school.
it was like the whole world is on her side today -- the weather is sunny, the golden rays bright and cheerful, and yet there is just enough shade from the clouds to make walking around during her lunch-break tolerable. and the sun was painting the flowers outside the girls' dorm in the most beguiling fashion, the artist within her practically crying out to paint a likeness of them on canvas (too bad she'd just run out; oh, well, there was always the school's stock).
yes, today was going just fine -- so miraculously fine that she is just the slightest bit suspicious, but she brushes it off; skepticism did not match with the tone of the day.
turning a corner, still humming a tune to some old nursery song that she used to love when she was younger and happier, yoona pauses to examine her surroundings, the ghost of a smile still etched onto her face from her previous run-in with the (probably hyperventilating; what bully smiled) freshman boy. and then an unmistakable side-profile caught her attention, and there was no smile on her face anymore.
i knew something was up.
and suddenly the sun was far too bright, and the clouds were far too fluffy, and the flowers looked too damned cheerful for im yoona, because her mood had evaporated as rapidly as the drops of hydrogen in the air around her had been. because spotting shim freaking changmin in the distance, looking like his usual smug self, was enough to ruin anyone's day -- anyone's entire week, actually.
yoona herself did not know why exactly she despised the boy so much. possibly it was his self-assured smirk (that she wanted to wipe off), or the way he walked as if he owned everything (he probably thought he did), or maybe just because his choice of hairstyle was always so egregious she wanted to just shave it all off -- maybe it was a combination of all three. whatever the case, she and changmin did not get along, and she liked telling him so.
he hadn't noticed her presence yet; if he had, they'd have been sending death threats to each other through their eyes. with light steps, she sneaks up behind him, and with a particularly catty smirk on her face, not-so-subtly kicks him in the shin. "oh, i'm sorry; must've tripped on something on the ground. probably a rock or something -- i'm fine, thanks for asking."
