speaking of the danblock situation, since it correlates with lara how do you feel about it and the funeral
i'll be real i never cared much for remake lara or the introduction of the apple basket gang lore so i can't say i was whatsoever affected by that particular plot decision. as a player it might be somewhat annoying to have to jump around so much trying to save one character for a "perfect" playthrough only to be told that it's a fixed event but storywise i think it makes sense. i don't doubt lara respects dankovsky as a professional (if you're good at your job at least) but he is a complete stranger to her & her struggles. he doesn't care for her beyond surface level. he doesn't want her to die but it's not a desperate need of someone who cares genuinely and deeply. so it's no wonder that no matter what he says it won't reach her, meanwhile in his route artemy is able to save her from herself.
if you were so inclined i suppose you could argue that it's a case of fridging (however will we manage without at least one dead woman per route) because her death mostly serves to highlight to dankovsky that it's not all fun and games and not everything can be fixed by rewinding but so does victor's. or eva's. or the cursed street. so in a way maybe her death could've been worked around, but as per my rationalization above i think it's fine this way. and it's different from aglaya's death in haruspex route - now that's a death that was completely unnecessary and had no palpable consequences on the story.
i know the game sets up an alternative of asking the rat prophet for help but as of right now that questline is bugged out so i can't say anything about it. i'm very curious to see where it goes when it's fixed though because given all the previous examples of the prophet helping he might as well lobotomize her for all we know.
if you're a fan of the apple basket gang you might find that whole quest, how it reflects on other characters & the funeral scene in particular (especially if you ship all four of them) to be very interesting but i'm not one to say, i thought block dying was awesome and he's my favorite character lol
the rat prophet questline got fixed (more or less) and having gone through it i think the more ethical and respectful choice would be to let her stay dead. lol
