I got my copy of Persona 3/4/5 Dancing Endless Night Edition today, and managed to sneak time into my busy schedule to play a few songs of each. Here are my totally biased opinions/thoughts so far:

P3D:

I love all of these kids ;A;

I just. Yuri Lowenthal is such a talented voice actor but I cannot take his Minato/Makoto/Door-kun voice seriously. I know he’s trying to sound not like Yosuke and I know Minato is a largely disinterested/soft-spoken character but he just sounds so bored with everything

I love Elizabeth even more now than I did before, which is saying something BC I loved her SO MUCH before

The first four songs you can play are SUCH good choices, a very strong opening for this game. I immediately played Soul Phrase on Hard mode because of course I did

Getting to see these kids interact is so refreshing and nice

I can’t wait to play more!

P4D:

IT LOOKS. SO GOOD. IN HD. ON THE PS4

I only missed notes because I kept getting distracted by how HOT YU AND YOSUKE ARE IN HD. Yu looks at the camera and I immediately miss a note BC I am WEAK

I’m absolutely biased bc I played the heck out of this game on the Vita when it first came out, but it’s my favorite out of the 3, hands down

I’m a little sad about the lack of my save data not transferring from the Vita, bc now I have to unlock All Night mode

I kept getting confused playing songs on Hard BC I’m SO USED to all night mode

Also the DLC not transferring is annoying. I WILL pay $5 to put my boys in skirts again, but I WON’T be happy about it

P5D:

Listen. I love the music in Persona 5. A lot. Really. But almost all of it? Terrible for a rhythm game. There, I said it.

Okay but why did they remix The Whims of Fate? It was actually better before, more suited for a rhythm game

So the first four songs you can play are a remix of Wake Up Get Up Get Out There that I’m not overly fond of, a remix of Rivers in the Desert that I HATE, an unnecessary remix of The Whims of Fate, and for the fourth song you have to put up with Morgana. Not a very strong start. 

Overall all three games look great. (Say what you will about P4D but it looks FANTASTIC on PS4 okay.) The music is good as always, except for some of the remixes that I actively loathe. The voice acting is good (okay Shinjiro’s is...uh...not great, but other than that...). The script is good. It’s just that P4D has more songs, better writing and an ACTUAL STORY so OF COURSE it’s going to be my favorite of the three, hands down. P3D is solid, too. P5D is kind of a letdown so far, but I’m not very far into either of the new games, so we’ll see, I guess...
