Mail Fairy || Danny & Haven

Daniel had just woken up. It was past noon, but he’d gotten to San Francisco really late the night before and he’d proceeded to waste his time until about 4am when sleep finally hit him. Now the sun was out, giving him a pounding headache as soon as he opened the door and stepped outside to check his mail. He’d been away for a few days, but he was big on ordering stuff online, it was massively important to check his box that morning. He dragged his feet outside, his coffee mug still steaming in his hand as he picked the few envelops he had on his mail. Magazines, bank statements, pizza promos, nothing too important. Except for that one envelop that didn’t look at all like anything he’d received before.
Danny rubbed his eyes with his forearm so he could read the address it came from, and the name just in case it was mistaken. “Haven Caldwell,” he read in his groggy morning voice. The name sounded familiar. “Haven Caldwell,” he repeated, just in case something would click inside his head. “Haven Caldwell! No- no shit-” he mumbled to himself after a big yell that seemed to wake himself up. He checked the number, it was the wrong address. The number matched a house a couple numbers down the street, which he didn’t mind walking –almost skipping– barefoot and wearing nothing but shorts, and a shirt. Daniel knocked on the door that matched the number in the letter with a bit too much confidence, hoping the girl, who once had been a close friend, would remember him the same way.
His eyes lit up with the girl opened the door. “I am well known around here as the mail fairy. Surprise! Remember me?”
