The Launch Pad Abort Test 2 (PA-2) Apollo Boilerplate (BP-23A) being prepared at the Vehicle Assembly Building at White Sands Missile Range in White Sands, New Mexico.
This capsule was used on two test flights. It was originally BP-23 and flew on A-002 on December 8, 1964 for a Max-Q Abort of the Apollo Launch Escape System. It was refurbished as BP-23A and used for PA-2 on June 29, 1965. This appears to be taken some time between the flights.
Currently, BP-23A is displayed as part of the SA-500D Saturn V exhibit at the US Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville, Alabama.
