Demystifying the Brand Marketing Team
Each year, #PaceU's Brand Marketing Team competes in the National Student Advertising Competition. Today, the Pace Advertising Club hosted a panel with four team members so that they could talk about what it means to be a part of the team and demystify the process.
The panel started with professors Larry Chiagouris and Conrad Nankin explaining their roles as the team advisors. They quickly walked out of the room to ensure that the panelists would be honest in explaining what goes into being a part of the team and left them to it.
AdClub President, Nikki Noorian, introduced the panelists: Angela Cerulli, President Krya Shassberger, Media Department Olivia Gonzalez, Account Planning and Research Department Emily Conklin, Creative Department
These four students were representing a team of 21. With the introductions, Nikki summarized their extensive resumes and impressive internships and proceeded through an FAQ list about what it means to participate in a competition like this one.
The panelists explained that having had extensive internship experience in their college years helped them with knowing how to be professional and taking this competition seriously. Internships have also helped in identifying which skills they could bring to the table and decide what department they should join.
On time management: "As long as you are able to manage yourself you can get everything done. It is a lot of work and you have to be really dedicated, but it's worth it."
Participating in this competition counts as marketing credits towards your major, no matter what your major is. But this is a special class. Everyone in the team is an A student so you won't have to be pulling anyone else's weight. "It's the best group project you've ever worked on."

Pace University students from the Media and Communication Arts program filmed and produced a film in honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Museum of the American Indian. The students worked under the guidance of Dyson professors Maria Luskay, EdD, and Melanie LaRosa. The film was shown at the gala dinner in spring 2016 in honor of the museum. Pace University President Stephen J. Friedman sits on the board of the museum.
