We lost a 15 year old kid to the Pacific this weekend. Went out for a swim with a friend never to return. The Coast Guard called off the search. I wept like he was my son. One of my brothers almost met his end in the same stretch. He was rescued by a kid lifeguard. One night we were having a bonfire & drinking beers up Cayucos way when he told me the details. He said he had taken off his Claddah and handed it to his wife before he went out. He got caught outside the break in what he described as a river. He was without leash and it took him. He said he could see his family on the beach doing what a family would do at the beach. He was moving so fast he couldn't even raise an arm. He said when he felt peace with it a 15 year old lifeguard with the biggest blue eyes popped up in front of him. Life man...it's a trip.
