My son lacks the ability to pacify people when he has zero interest in what they're saying and/or doing. He will literally look right through you as though aren't there, won't look at you at all, or will just walk away - consequences of his actions be damned. If he gets in trouble for not listening because he truly gives no fucks about what's being said/asked/done - he does not care.
I'm positive he comes by this naturally and organically, as I am the same way. It's nearly impossible for me to pacify and/or pretend to give a shit when I honestly don't.
This applies to big and small things and it doesn't matter who you are. You can be my fiancee, my boss, a friend, a coworker, a stranger, whoever. If there is not a shit to be had about whatever you're talking about or asking me to do, at best I will say, "mmhmm" and not even make eye contact with you.
I do this almost all the time with my housemate who was suppose to just visit for the summer but clearly has moved the fuck in until whenever. Woot.
