Hello! I'm going to my first con soon, and I was wondering if you could help me. I have my wigs, but I'm not sure exactly how to travel with them. I want to keep them on their foam heads so I don't have to go through the trouble of completely styling each one in the hotel, but I'm stumped as to how travel with them like that. I thought of maybe putting them in a box, but I figured I'd ask you ^.^ (Also, one of the wigs comes with clip-on ponytails. Any ideas as to how to keep them their shape?)
Check out Vicious Cosplay’s amazing wig box tutorial. It’s an effective way to store and carry wigs on their wig heads. If you’re not big on crafting then you can also purchase a wig box/bag/suitcase. The ones on e-bay look to be between $15-30 US. If you are driving to the convention, and don’t want to make a wig box for all your wigs, you can place the wig heads in a large box. Make sure they can’t move around and position the box so it won’t fall or have anything fall on it. Since there are multiple wigs, you may want to place a hairnet or fabric bag overtop to protect the style. If I’m not driving and it’s just one wig then I’ll hold onto it. If you plan to fly, use a similar method but fill the box with packing peanuts or bubble wrap to prevent damage. You will definitely want to cover the wig heads with a fabric bag to prevent packing peanuts from getting clingy! The wig suitcases, mentioned above, can be brought as carry-on luggage. Some styled wigs, and most unstyled wigs, can be flat packed and returned to the wig head after you get to the hotel room. In this case, you might have to do a little brushing to return it to it’s former glory.Hope this helps!
