One of our longest running pack members, Jessie, sadly had to have emergency surgery due to bloat/GDV. She’s been a client since the very beginning of Kapooch’s inception, back in 2014. Her loving human, Diane, initially contacted us for her dog aggression issues. Since working with us Jessie has become the social butterfly of Astoria and has lots of doggie friends now. Up until her recent emergency surgery, she was still going on regular pack walks with us. And as many of our Kapooch clients, Diane and Jessie have become good friends with our team and pack. We always feel that every client is like family here at Kapooch. So when something like this happens it’s devastating to all of us. Last Monday evening Diane noticed Jessie was acting unusual after eating and drinking. She was trying to vomit without success and her stomach look abnormally large. Thankfully, Diane knew to take her to the emergency hospital right away. Her stomach had twisted and luckily untwisted on its own. But her spleen couldn’t be saved. She had to have emergency surgery to have her spleen removed. She developed a heart arrhythmia due to the surgery, and had to stay in the hospital to recover. The bill came to a whopping $9400.
