We've mentioned Paco Cathcart's band Eyes of Love a couple of times, but somehow they've missed a post of their own. Wharf Cat Records released a 7" and full length of Eyes of Love - great pop music in the vein of Dark Tea or Chris Cohen.
"Down on Them" is a Paco Cathcart "solo" record. It is different sound than either Eyes of Love or The Cradle in that it is lusher. On the Bandcamp page he admits that, "I knew I needed a group of strong players who could also sing harmony to perform the new music I was writing in ’22-’23 and achieve this heavy, stormy sound that I had in mind."
The other difference I see is that his regular cast of musicians isn't here - Andréa Schiavelli is the only name I recognize.
There are only two songs here, but they are mesmerizing. "Bottleneck Blues" gives has a Paul McCartney-esque (imagine his vocals on this) feel to it.
