A Post About Paddy Holohan, A Now Former Sinn Féin Councillor.

As of today, (17/1/2020) former Sinn Féin councilman, Paddy Holohan (also known as the Hooligan) has been suspended from all political actions and is no longer associated with Dinn Féin as a party.

For anyone who us unaware of what Sinn Féin is, who Paddy Holohan is, or why this is important news; let me explain.

Paddy Holohan is a former MMA fighter, who fought out of Tallaght (where he was born) and soon after retirement decided to take up a life in politics. He was elected on the SDCC (South Dublin Country Council) in 2019 and served up until the 7th of January, 2020. He was a very well preforming fighter and has two children.

Sinn Féin is a political party operating in Dublin. It is a left/center leaning party, with it's believes being founded in: leftist nationalism, Irish republicanism and democratic socialism. It's one of the four main parts in Ireland and holds a lot of sway in elections (the other three being Fine Gale, Fianna Fail and Labour.)

Now that you're caught up on what I'm saying let me get back to the point, Paddy has said some seriously offensive, sexist, homophobic, racist remarks and is being punished for it. He has made insults regarding our Taoiseach (kinda like our president), has said that young women have sex with men only to blackmail them for money, that Ireland should be run by a "family man" (perhaps that one was not so bad but I believe it was a dig on our Taoiseach's sexual identity) and that if he ran an all women's class he would be praised and shamed for running an all male class.

I know that was a lot of information, but these are the main things he's being accused of. It's horrible, and even when Leo Varadkar accepted his apologies about his race, he still amazed to talk himself into a suspension on his podcast "No Shame." The things his said are awful and do not alone at all with what Sinn Féin preaches and I am glad he's gone.

Here are a few links to articles discussing the situation, but if you're Irish or interested at all in politics I beg you to PLEASE look into who you vote for! Especially with the general elections coming up (8/2/2030, don't forget!) all these hurtful things that were said could have been avoided if people looked into who Paddy really was. It hurts a lot to have to hear about Sinn Féin's reputation being smeared with one ignorant person, so when you go to vote know who you're going for and why!

I suppose this was a small PSA, as well as just a post to raise awareness, it's kinda all over the place as I do t do big posts often and this is still a developing story, but I hope someone finds use in it.

Paddy Holohan is forced to retire from MMA due to medical reasons. At least he got the chance to headline a UFC card in Dublin before he had to call it a career.

Smolka locks in RNC on Holohan in 2nd round.

Great fight between Holohan and Smolka. Paddy was sticking to Smolka tight, dragging him to the ground, passing guard, etc. Smolka remained calm, managed to escape some troubling positions before getting on top and throwing down some heavy GNP. Even landed a sick soccer kick to the body.

Heart broken for Paddy because he looked fantastic before fading in the 2nd round. Was a big stage in front of his home crowd and he looked great up until he loss. Props to him.

Holohan and Smolka are just getting after it. Holohan was working on the ground. Crazy grappling exchanges and some nice exchanges inside on the feet.
