Emma/Regina, in thier 50's or 60's, in retirement together. I dunno - old people Emma & Regina stuff lol

Regina found Emma in the living room, staring intently at the far wall. She’d seen this look before—the intent furrow of the brow, the distant look in the eyes—and nothing good would come of it. The last time Emma had gotten like this, their kitchen had gone from adequately useable to nightmarishly awful for three months. What should have been a weekend-long project to update the countertops turned into a complete remodel—not to say, of course, that she wasn’t pleased with the results; she did enjoy the stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and hardwood floors. Rather, she hated being stuck getting takeout food for weeks on end, no matter how enthused Emma had been during the first few days.

 That look meant that something in this house was about to get messy.

 “Sometimes, I wish you hadn’t retired,” Regina groused, placing a hand on her spouse’s shoulder.

 Emma grinned wryly. “What happened to wanting me out of danger? And hating the long hours? And—“

 “I know.” Regina glared at her, although there was no malevolence in the eye contact.

 “This is much safer.”

 “For whom?” Regina rolled her eyes. “You broke your foot in the kitchen.”

 “Well, I don’t have any heavy countertop pieces in here, do I?”

 “Knowing you, you’ll find some way to hurt yourself.”

 Emma winked. “Good thing I know someone who can fix me up with a snap of her fingers.”

 “Lucky you.”

 “Yeah,” Emma replied agreeably with a cheeky smile. “Lucky me.”

Random fic suggestion just because. Have you read the Cosmofleet series? It's like Startrek - but with Swan Queen, and some adorbs Regina/Henry goodness. Albeit, non romantic SQ (not sure if it'll go there at some point, but they are an awesome team in it anyway - and their are hints and suggestions a plenty). Regardless it's a cool series, and the second volume has just been posted. Thought you might be interested :-) The author is Fangirlinit on AO3 - her Cosmofleet Series.

I have not read this, yet! But I will post this for all to see. Here’s a link to the first work on AO3.

Just discovered / started reading "Fieldwork" last night (couldn't put it down) and wanted to say how much I am enjoying it. I love how you learn along with Asami - that's a super cool way to do it. <3

Thanks! I’m glad so many people actually like the whole language thing. I thought it would scare more people away. lol Of course now that I have Unlocked going too, maybe it’s not so scary. 

Hopefully you’ll all still be interested when the language stops being the focus and we transition into the other stuff that’s coming. :)

Regina awoke suddenly. Even after the passing of many suns and moons, she didn’t trust her new companions to keep her completely safe in the dark of the night, which was when some of the largest predators roamed the land just outside the den that served as their home. She listened cautiously, hoping to identify the noise that had roused her, but nothing but the buzz of insects reached her ears. She considered that she might be too paranoid, especially given the care Emma provided her, but she also knew better than to doubt her instincts.

She hooted quietly near Emma’s ear, and the blonde’s eyes flickered open. Emma’s knuckles lifted and brushed gently across Regina’s cheek—Regina appreciated the intimate touch, but that was hardly the reason she’d awoken her companion. Their current home was nestled deep within a jungle of sorts, and that jungle was also home to a number of large, furry monsters, most of which wanted to kill them. The sooner Emma investigated, the sooner they could all fall back asleep.

A twig snapped in the distance, so Emma grunted and struggled up from the ground. She looked rather pointedly at her son, who slumbered onward, and Regina scooted closer. Although she had no direct ties to the boy, she was rather fond of him, and he often kept her entertained while Emma was out on a hunt. He was an odd child, to be sure, and she was curious to see how he survived later in life, as he preferred playing to fighting, and smearing colors on walls to hunting.

Emma loped into the jungle, her eyes narrowed and searching for any of the tell-tale signs that something big and nasty was drawing closer. She flinched as a wolf fell into step with her, its tongue lolling and its tail wagging. She still wasn’t entirely pleased that Regina had befriended the beast, but she did appreciate the animal’s protective nature.

I’m pretty darn excited. I have a bit of it written, but I’m not sure if/when it’ll get posted. I may determine that it’s too stupid for common consumption. It is awfully self-indulgent.

Go on facebook, search for a group called J/7 - Janeway ♥ Seven, and look for a post from someone named Val. I asked the same question and got a bunch of awesome responses.
