New term- Paenrasexual
Combining the Latin paenitere (to cause repent) and paraphilia (abnormal sexual desire), paenrasexual is an asexuality spectrum micro label with a base definition stemming out of aegosexuality [link]. Like aegosexual, people who are paenrasexual tend to disconnect themselves from their object of attraction, but paenrasexual differs in two major ways:
1. the attraction in question is primarily directed toward concepts, non-sentients or scenarios that are considered unusual to be attracted to rather than people/anthropomorphs, and
2. the experience of arousal may be semi-nonexistent (fixation that one associates to sex but does not find physically stimulating) and/or cause distress, disgust or a feeling of needing to “repent” or disconnect from actions relating to it.
While paenrasexuality is not strictly analogous to sex repulsion, most (if not all) paenrasexuals are not strictly neutral to sexual participation, whether alone or with others. Comfort with participation might fluctuate depending on if a paenrasexual has multiple objects of attraction or mental health factors like Moral OCD, dissociative tendencies, cognitive impairments, developmental delays, etc.
Paenrasexuals may still experience romantic or platonic attraction to (real) people, or in arospec individuals, still experience a desire for a partner, but typically do not experience sexual attraction to people.
While not necessarily exclusive to disabled people, paenrasexual is made with developmental and trauma related disabilities in mind. Not for radqueer/transID/“big 3” supporters, and not a general replacement for the term paraphilia.
