Girl Genius 8/10/25
Lookit these two cuties, they’re adorable! Synchronized running away/to danger and everything! 😍
Agatha: solved the problem of warring suitors by ending up with both of them; therefore her answer will be “all of the above” to every question. Not helpful, not even to build them a Tunnel of Love. 3/10 if we’re stretching it.
Gkika: likely very knowledgeable about matters of romance and would probably give very good advice… until the Jager slips out. 5/10, maybe a solid 7/10 if she hasn’t recently been in battle.
Bang: Bang could coach you on surviving an extremely ill-advised one night stand, but Violetta is already plenty adept at killing people. Good call on this one. 0/10 in this instance.
Zeetha: Thanks to Skifander’s…proclivities, arguably an even better connoisseur of erotic activities than Mamma. As Violetta suggests, an excellent resource to consult…but maybe not on the first date. 8/10.
Which leaves… sorry, Violetta…
Tarvek: Has no doubt studied the art of romance (and socializing, and relationships) aplenty, although I question how much practice he’s actually had. That said, he did follow Gil around in Paris, and we’ve heard tales about that boy’s exploits. Tarvek is nothing if not a sponge for information, so on top of his encyclopedic knowledge of etiquette and fashion, he is eminently suited to the task of advising re: dates thanks to his wide range of experiences. Only likely to become a problem if he gets lost in the weeds of conspiracy, or if he turns the examining glass on himself. 10/10.
(Of course, as he so clearly states, he can also help you get rid of the evidence and manage the fallout, should you happen to kill someone you either didn’t want to—or who you did want to, but it leaves a mess in your plans.)
(I am particularly fond of the implication that he’s helped her with this before, given that it’s his first instinct.)
God, I love this comic.
Oh wow! the faces on todays page are on Point!
immediate family acceptance???? 🥹🥹🥹😭🥹
shes so cute. not just any indeed!
also: VIOLETTA WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF SOMETHING!!! however i forgive you<3 and good for her sticking up for herself, do not let that loser call you incompetent
get wrecked, tweedle
Look Klaus, a female Spark who hasn't tried to kill you!
Klaus didn't seem to have gotten very far in 'getting that boy married off' prior to Beetleburg - no half-formed plan to marry Gil to one of several noble or royal ladies, not even with a princess of England or one of Simon Voltaire's daughters. The main reason to shotgun marry Gil off to Trelawney (a loyal, Sparky servant of mostly-ally-somewhat-rival England) is so he doesn't marry Agatha.
What even was Klaus' plan for handing off the Empire to Gil, before canon started? What was he planning to do in retirement? Rebuild the historic Castle Wulfenbach, find a way back to Skifander, go out adventuring like in the Good Old Times? On a scale of "occasionally giving orders to the local Wulfenbach troops while adventuring" to "literally backseating driving", how much did he intend to continue directing the Empire after retirement before everything with Agatha and the Other blew up?
For Trelawney's part, I think she know she's not going to net Gil, but needs to be at least making the attempt. I wonder if she's going to defect or be assigned official ambassador to one of the trio's respective force.
Klaus. Chump. MY MAN.
It's YOU.
A rare moment of introspection and doubt from the Baron?? Impressive! Now I’m really worried about those death flags, but it’s also really cool to see a side to him we haven’t seen in like 15 years or so.
THEY JUST KEEP GETTING CUTER
Another shoddy panel edit, in honour of my endless bafflement.
So, this is messy.
The long and short of it, is that Agatha and Gil haven't actually been in the same space as each other that much, and DuPree also being there narrows everything down significantly.
I'm checking through the incidents, but I haven't found anything yet.
