#Friday5 with Gretchen LeGrand
This #Friday5, Gretchen LeGrand, founder of Code in the Schools, shares her favorite picture books! These will be sure to warm your heart...and who can resist Alexander and Olivia!
1. Time of Wonder: Robert McCloskey.
This book sends me into daydreams of living on an island off the coast of Maine.
2. Stellaluna: Janell Cannon.
I don't know why, but I get choked up at the end of this book. Every. Time.
3. I love you as much: Laura Krauss Melmed & Henri Sorensen
The most beautiful watercolor illustrations.
4. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day: Judith Viorst.
I still have days like this. I also just heard they're turning it into a movie.
5. Olivia: Ian Falconer
I live with Olivia (her name is Justice though). She even has a baby brother named William, so this book is close to my heart. Also, hilarious.
Please take a minute to check out Gretchen's AMAZING initiative, Code in the Schools!
Gretchen and Mike LeGrand founded Code in the Schools in 2013 to provide Baltimore City youth with access to high-quality computer science education. We partner with schools and afterschool programs to bring our classes to children who wouldn't otherwise be exposed to computer science as a career or degree choice.
