How 3 am Leads to Mission Read
Mission Read is live today! We welcome you all to our literacy campaign to help spread the "word!" Mission Read -- for the love of reading.
It is 3am – I am unsure whether to qualify this as the middle of the night or the very early morning. After tossing and turning in bed for over an hour, I think a “fresh spot” would possibly trick my brain into a false sense of quiet. I move to my couch, ATTEMPTING to go back to sleep. The Need to Read!
Welcome to Mission Read! Launching April 1!
Mission Read is an organic, grassroots literacy campaign started by Page’s Corner, a Baltimore based children’s learning company. Mission Read has been designed to stress the importance of reading at all levels, regardless of age, gender or socioeconomic status. Using this as the benchmark, Page’s Corner is partnering with the online magazine, BonBon Break to highlight topics and issues relating to literacy and each month will feature a series of articles stressing the ‘need to read’! The campaign will also feature writers, business owners and advocates for education and children’s’ issues. Beyond the articles and discussions using social media, Mission Read will be the hub for outreach, education and community involvement as participants showcase their efforts to spread the love of books and reading in their locales and beyond!
“I wanted to start a campaign that everyone could feel a part of. People like to participate in different ways and it was with this in mind that Mission Read was designed. Every person can feel proactive from the grandmother reading to her grandchildren to the teacher running a book club to the neighborhood organizing a community book drive. As long as you are reading, you are a part of Mission Read!”
-Beth Panageotou, CEO Page’s Corner.
