Methinks the rwby creators have become rather... egotistical lately to think they would do well while lambasting their fans like this. Too much pride, I say.
Then you are an idiot anon. Because if there was actual fanbase bashing from RT: I would have heard about it.
But let’s consider something: The CRWBY are still willing to do the show despite the fact that you all have called them every form of bigot ossible (even as members of the group you claim to be fighting for take offense to you DOING that), they feel like they have to walk around on eggshells with you people (RWDE), constantly berate themselves and feel like they can't do much right because you absolutely refuse to acknowledge anything good, constantly blindly support controversies just to humiliate them, ignore what they want to do with THEIR series and control what they say and do. You know, doing all the shit a DOMESTIC ABUSER does. (https://helpguide.org/articles/abuse/domestic-violence-and-abuse.htm)
So I feel like you can take a playful jab or such.
That could be one reason. RT in general doesn’t seem to take critique well, and some of their fans are very… dedicated. xD

“I know I'm not a perfect writer, and every year I try and look back on the things I worked on to see what I could've done better. That being said, it's still totally okay if you don't like my stuff, haha. Criticism's good. It's how we learn and grow.”
“I still can't believe how popular it's become, and as amazing as that is, it's also an incredible amount of pressure. It's scary when you know all eyes are on you, but I have the good fortune of working with writers like Kerry, Gray, and Jordan who all bring such incredible creativity and passion to everything they do and then we hand off our work to the greatest production team ever. I can't promise you that we'll always surpass your expectations, let alone meet them, but I can promise you that everyone working on our various shows will always do the best job they can. “

In terms of improving, we will never make the perfect show. Lord knows it hard for Kerry and I to go back and watch Volume 1 because all we see is everything that’s wrong with it. From a production standpoint we were incredibly limited, from a writing stand point we were incredibly inexperienced. But the fact that people say it does get better every year is a good thing, obviously. It’s not great when you’re trying to get a friend to watch it. It’s hard saying ‘you know once it hits season 3 then it’s really good’. If someone was to tell me that about any other show I probably wouldn’t watch it.
This si all from Miles Luna, the guy you say is the most egotistical of the bunch. He has said ALL of this.
Your point does not stand. Especially since YOU believe yourself above criticism which is why I cannot reblog this directly. You think you don't need to improve and that anyone who says you do or points out your flaws is blind. Nice try: we call see you are pointing at yourself when you say this.
It’s a potent mixture, I have no doubt it’s had an effect. It would definitely explain their refusal to get help and their tendency to attempt projects well outside their skill level and available resources.Â
Examples of refusing help? Because Miles has been actively trying to get REAL criticism.
Unlike all of you, in which none of you have done anything creative at all.
Lately this attitude seems to be popping up even in mainstream creators? While some fans admittedly have severe boundary issues that need to be addressed, a lot of the creators seem to outright despise their own fanbase. Which seems kinda weird since devoted fans keep bread and butter on the table if nothing else.
Ah yes, boundary issues like not calling everyone who doesn’t agree with you homophobes. Or being able to take criticism. Or pay attention to the facts and not lie. And not act like jittled lovers.

I think im so upset about chariot and croix...
Honestly though, I feel like the series itself addresses that? Like, how Chariot and Croix act in the show are two responses to their previous failure. And they do bad things but toward the end they become more reconciled with their failure and start moving toward a place of healing and growth (as shown by the last scene, where croix promises to return chariot’s flight/redeem herself) but I do feel like this could have been developed better overall.
you’re right of course, they go into it a little. Especially when it comes to Chariot, she resolves to help and protect Akko whatever the cost so she can shine more brightly that she ever has. And she made that happen! That’s a positive way to deal with such failure. But GOD, that second to last scene with Croix, when Croix is like: I never could have imagined that belief = magic. And Chariot is like: this is way beyond us.
I’m like....NOO?!?! Croix was the one to coin the catchphrase: ‘a believing heart is your magic’ in the first place! (and she found out that emotion can translate into magic bc she’s literally brilliant) Chariot performed this whole idea with GREAT effect (on Akko and Diana). Though they failed, they were the basis to success. They were the ones to pass the torch.
Why couldn’t they have had Chariot combine the stick with the rod together with Akko? As a way to say: you WERE worthy, and the way you made this moment possible, of finally being able to truly connect with your fan and your student - you could do it. And you have redeemed yourself - and the magic knows! There was so much build-up for Croix’s (and Chariot’s) damagedness because of their joint failures. They spent so much time on Chariot havind developed such an insecure and unsure persona, wracked with guilt and regret and clearly some kind of loneliness. Croix turned to such cruelty and hatred and even more broken sense of superiority to deal with every single one of her messes. So much time in the show was spent on the results that their failures had on themselves, on their dynamic, leading them to outright lethal conflict. But very little time was spent on how they even got there. And basically no time was spent on their reconciliation. On all of that exploding in another failure but ultimately SUCCESS
And so little time, most importantly, was spent on the utterly most failed failure of a character in the show: Croix. She suffered not just one, but two, three MAJOR failures in the whole show - with absolutely devastating effect. And she is never allowed to express true remorse for the horrible shit she did, she’s not forgiven, her contributing to the World Reconstruction Magic is minor if essential - but she’s not given the screentime to come to grips with that - to move past ten-year-long hurt and ultimate devastation towards recovery of true self-worth.
Her resolve to heal Wagandea Sickness is a small indication that she’s somehow made a huge stride without any scene in which they maybe talk about how terribly they hurt each other.
so...it’s true they made small gestures. But honestly it feels like Chariot and Croix just failed period. Like the narrative is like: you failed, period, and you’re not really important enough to spend more time on you truly recovering from that failure, on you regaining self-worth and human connection.
That makes me feel deeply sad because failure....well I think the anime itself SHOWED how it can absolutely wreck ya

If you think about it, when does that girl sleep?
I have several fics where I (Akko) asks and discusses that exact question
I feel like using the actions of Sun, Yang, or even BLAKE in later seasons to prove or disprove a ship is silly. The writing is too inconsistent and the characterization doesn't make sense based on previous developments and what little implied history is available. I just go with the ships I like and ignore canon xD
That’s also a very fair point. Truthfully I do agree that both Sun and Blake felt very off this volume (and unfortunately I don’t think we saw enough of Yang to really be able to fairly gauge her character even though it was a little unfair how we saw a speed run of her healing process but whatevs).
And yeah, that’s more than likely what I’ll be doing. I’m going to probably check in on volume 5 and see what they do with it, but I don’t have high hopes for it whatsoever.
It’s just hard to leave, ya know?

Honestly the whole idea that only sadness and suffering has artistic merit sucks in general.
agreed. they forget that happiness is an emotion. and honestly, the world can always use more happiness. and conflict that moves the story forward doesn't always have to be ~~tragic~~
Motion drew her gaze down to her hand and she watched, half-horrified, as her wand followed Akko as she walked past. Then Akko stopped, and Diana’s heart jumped into her mouth.
“That’s weird, it’s not… pointing… oh.” Akko followed the line of her own wand and met Diana’s eyes, a flush spreading high across her cheekbones. Diana could have enjoyed it more if her own wand weren’t revealing where her thoughts had wandered during their search.
