This country’s weather was generally more agreeable to Marielle than the weather in America had ever been, but sometimes the rain here was just awful. She had intended to leave today, head out and try to infiltrate a Golden Path camp or two, but one look outside when she woke up to confirm that yes, indeed, there was a monsoon sitting on top of them, and her plans changed to Annoy Pagan into doing something other than mope.

So, here she was, wandering the palace until he awoke. Poking at various artifacts, flipping through books, and otherwise wasting time. Until she heard his distinct voice, complaining to someone, and she headed in that direction.

“Oh dear King Min, don’t be so rude. Come on. I have food ready. And coffee, and everything else you like in the morning. The weather is nasty but we can have a nice time inside.” She placed a hand on his forearm for a minute, flashing one of her winning smiles, before stepping down the corridor to a dining room, looking back to make sure he was attempting to follow.

Jin pushed the plate a little closer to Pagan. It concerned him to see the other refusing food. He hoped the stress of his lover’s job hadn’t become too much for him. Once could only image how much pressure his responsibilities put on him.

ok i’m curious. how does marriage work within the project? how do relationships work? i know ‘fornication’ isn’t allowed but how does courting happen? not sure if this has been asked before but i just got rlly interested in this topic

i know, i know. i’ve had this ask sitting for way too long, but here goes !

a while back, i tackled something similar to this ( it may have been a full year ago, by now ). it primarily tackled the whole ‘fornication’ thing and the purpose of marriage. you can find that here. i did a formative list of marriage things here, as well. but since i’ve never fully dug into weddings and marital unions within the project, there’s no better time like the present, huh?

          first and foremost, i would like to point out that in the bible, fornication is more closely defined as adultery, rather than premarital sex. so, i still stand by my ‘sex is fine as long as it’s consensual on all sides’ stance. if anything, it’s safe to say that the project simply does not equate lust to sex and ‘no fornication’ was an easy way to get hurk drubman jr.—a terrible and unmendable human being, if we’re being honest—from destroying from the inside out all which the project has worked to achieve. 

BUT I DIGRESS.

          as noted in that second post, the project does consider itself secular, meaning that it has no definitive traditions where things like weddings come into question. whatever traditions any given member of the project would like to uphold, that’s up to them. wear all white, break bread, shoot your partner with a headless arrow, request lavish parties, or simply elope. all practices are recognized, and all are officiated by a priest or priestess of the wedding party’s choosing. 

the project has also conducted many ceremonies that aren’t legally recognized. before montana legalized gay marriage in november of 2014, joseph insisted on officiating weddings for lgbtqia+ couples or even groups. in fact, to this day, joseph pushes for the legalization of bigamy. he also supports common law marriages, and if you simply tell the father that you wish to wed without any form of ceremony ( though he can say no and will, if he finds the circumstances unsavory, such as deceit between partners and the like ), he and his heralds will claim themselves witnesses. there are a few project members who have married themselves. some have even requested a secondary marriage to the father, in which he will not recognize them as partners, but they wear a specific ring to symbolize their devotion. 

WHAT WILL THE PROJECT NOT SUPPORT?   child marriage is a massive no-no and simply asking for such will lead to excommunication without fail. even if those who entered the project hadn’t surrendered their earthly possessions and wealth, dowry would absolutely not be allowed. enforced arranged marriage is in no way supported, but there are those who are okay with the tradition. this one is all about circumstance. any situation where any involved party does not or is unable in sound mind and body to consent to the marriage is a strict and unshakable ‘no’. 

          otherwise, what couples / groups do within the project is up to them. given that the project is very much built on a libertarian system, there are no firm laws in place for personal practice.
